 Haha not only have people used the train to follow them around, as we all know, people have flown hundreds, nay, *thousands* of miles across oceans to see them. I myself have done this twice. I consider it part of my SCANDAL fanboy street cred.

And I like that Osaka-jo park pic, must be pretty interesting for her to go there while off-duty, so to speak. And cross my fingers, I too would dearly wish they will last 15 years. At the current rate they are going, can you guys imagine how legendary they will be by that time?

 Yeahhh I agree... It's like they don't even take time to take a breath! LOL After a tour, there's a single, then festivals, then more tours... and the cycle goes on and on.. and I don't mind one bit because I love me some SCANDAL all day everyday!! @ariadne32391: I think her little sister is indeed a mini-Rina. I saw some of her siblings' pictures in her 2012 blog entries, though Rina didn't let her sister's face be directly seen for obvious reasons. There's quite a gap between Rina and her younger siblings. I also want to see a glimpse of Haru, Tomo and Mami's siblings.

Hmm... They are filled with so many activities nowadays. I'm happy at the same time worried. But as long as they are enjoying what they are doing, I'm happy.

Maybe their husbands and children will be special guests by that time. Hahaha. :D

 She's definitely right about that octave thing, I can't do it as rapidly and accurately as her despite all the practise. It's strange, I love punk/pop punk stuff and the use of octaves is rife but I can't really do it as well as I would like.

To be fair, I thought her technique during the solo on their recent performance of Fuyu no Inazuma on RockBros was really good. She's definitely getting better all the time.

I must admit that it's a bit of a surprise to me that Mami, being a musician, can't read sheet music.
Is this also the case with the other members? I wonder what alternate methods of reading music the four of them use during the song writing/rehearsal process then..

^I'm quite surprised as well. But I did alittle browse on the internet and found that quite afew notable guitarist don't read sheet music. Though I don't think its that hard to learn to do so. But it seems like she's surviving just fine. But it does make me wonder how does she remember what she's playing? Does she solely rely on tabs or what?

They probably know how to read tabs or something like that.

 Honestly while the ability to read sheet music is very useful, in modern contemporary rock music its not a complete necessity. Many pro musicians don't read sheet music, relying on memory and feel instead.

If you rehearse and practise enough, memorising songs is not a big problem.

EDIT: To avoid multiposting and further straying off-topic, I will add the following.

Don't be surprised by the idea that many musicians don't read music. It's not as strange as one would think. I'm no pro but when I used to jam a lot, me and my band used to play for 2-3 hrs, all from memory, no sheet music or tabs required. Some of the songs we used to play were 6-7 minutes long and we could play these flawlessly. Ask any other musician on this very forum and they will say the same, music reading is, while helpful and important, *not essential* for pop/rock musicians. It is not strange at all, for those of you who don't have the experience.

Now let's get back on topic shall we?

Looks like she is doing fine without it but I also have to say i'm very surprised. I don't know a lot of things about music but a guitarist not be able to read music sheet just doesn't seem right.

That being said I guess you don't need it and there must be other ways you play/learn things and MAMI is the living proof ^_^

Wonder about the others... RINA can read them but not sure about HARUxTIMO.

Stevie Wonder definitely can't read music and he's doing fine.

 its actually very common. many musicians just learned on their own and know chords but not sheet music. theres even some grammy winning movie composers who cant read sheet music. they all go by ear.

 example: jimi hendrix, paul mccartney

 My brother-in-law is a musician, has known quite a lot of people in the industry and he says you would be surprised at just how many famous musicians cannot read sheet music.

Many write and play by ear.

As for other methods they use by song writing, I recall seeing an interview of Scandal during a Windows 8 promotion where Mami mentions she uses a PC (when asked about why she goes to Akihabara often), she mentions music software. Also during that interview Tomomi mentions that the band uses the internet heavily during the song writing process, sending ideas to each other.

I would imagine it means that at least Mami is "recording" her ideas and sending them off to other members.
