Hey all - your friendly neighborhood translator and Japanologist Tenjou here. .nerd.

I had a request a while ago about making a thread for Japanese language questions, but more than that, a thread for general discussion in Japanese. I also had an idea at one time to post daily or weekly Japanese mini-lessons for all those interested. So I thought, why not put them all together in one Topic?

So, general rules for this "classroom":

1. All general Forum rules apply.
2. Keep any discussions or conversations respectful and be mindful that your level of Japanese may be higher than others.
3. This thread is for Japanese language and is meant to encourage the enhancement of Japanese abilities. You do not have to speak Japanese, but if you would like to, feel free! Simply provide a translation for what you are saying when appropriate or as needed (This is also a Forum rule)
4. If interest demands it, I will gladly post weekly, or even daily Japanese tips/mini-lessons. If you have a suggestion or topic you would like explained or featured, please feel free to suggest it in this thread.
5. Any private questions/comments can be sent to me via Private Message.

For starters, if you're interested in weekly Japanese mini-lessons, reply to this thread!

Thanks Tenjounokaze for making this thread! Count me in! Right now I'm stuck at Verb Conjugation. So... If you have time, can you please give me (and others as well) some tips on how to conjugate a verb properly? I'm really confused with Godan and Ichidan Verbs. Thanks in advance! I hope many SH members will be interested in this thread!

Thanks for making this thread, tenjou! haha and apologies if that ^ sucks; it's currently past 5 AM and I'm really tired, but yeah, I'm also interested in these lessons! I'm a Japanese-learning college student who's currently on winter break. My last Japanese class ended a month ago, so I probably forgot a lot of Japanese...haha.

My brain's just too tired to come with any questions I have right now, but I'll post them here once I think of them. I have another month to go before my next Japanese class starts up so I better start studying more again! .hardwork.

I think this is a great idea.Oftentimes i want to say something to my Japanese counterparts on twitter but i keep worrying about whether my sentence is correct or not.With this,nau,i'll just whack everything that i dunno in here. (^ω^)

Thanks for starting this thread!! I'm trying to learn Japanese, took some basic Japanese lessons during my school days but it has been 2 years since. I'll keep coming back to this thread to learn from fellow 'students'. Hope I can keep up with the 'pace' though; it appears many advance students are in this class. Lol.

I'm seconding LieAnn with verbs (for me, I guess -te form verbs and their add-ons). Detailed particle explanations I'm sure would be helpful to everyone as well.

How about verbs then their different forms in different sentences for clearer definitions!!

If you are starting from scratch like me, I suggest you could learn reading and writing hiragana and katakana first somewhere. There's a lot of lessons on it online. That's what my first lesson is about anw.
