Oricon Daily Album Chart - "furage" (December 2) - #2 with 18,967 copies! (though Eiichi Ohtaki is close with 17,388 copies)

If the sales managed to stay constant they will break their own record, again!

Yeah, I read the same tweet about the 12/2 release date but I was out and about in the wilds of Kansai to actually see any record stores to enter!

So I have been listening to the Hello World album today and it definitely up there with Standard. Whilst Standard gave the wow and kapow with songs like STANDARD and metronome, Hello World is the album that gives us the subtler and more sentimental side of SCANDAL. Packed with crowd pleasing singles of 2014, Hello World is another win for SCANDAL.

I love Onegai Navigation the most, totes do air drums when the song is playing. Closely followed by Can Beer and Read a Book (it takes on a similar style I've heard done by another Japanese indie band). Songs like Oyasumi and Winter Story still need to grow on me. I still don't get why Rina puts auto tune on her voice. She sounds fine and most idol like out of the four. If idols can sing normal so can Rina. I must say listening to the preview radio rips did make the final release product loose its shine for me, there wasn't a wow moment when I listened to it.

I kept on listening to the album songs multiple times today and just as the members mentioned in their blog posts, this is a perfect playlist to play in a daily life. I could imagine myself stuck in traffic while playing the album's songs and it would certainly calm me down. This is a great work.

It may have been a much calmer side than STANDARD, but it's still nice to the ears to listen to. For the new songs I personally liked Kan Biiru, Place of life and Winter Story most. The 3 have that nostalgic feeling. Onegai Navigation, is great, loved the bass lines. Hon wo yomu, is also good, MAMI really loves to take things differently. Graduation still need to to grow on me. love in action on the other hand is really catchy, it has that Orange Juice feeling into it. Oyasumi, is somewhat a downside, or maybe I am expecting a little bit too much for this. And just like what bleachnlife said, I wonder why RINA puts auto tune on her voice. Maybe she just wants it to have that techno-like feeling.

I will not yet decide if this is better than STANDARD or their previous albums. I must first read the translated lyrics hehe. Anyway, this is a wonderful work, perfect to listen too when I'm too stressed at work

They released the album in 24/96 FLAC on mora!

Are there any way to purchase music from mora without a Japanese credit card? If so then I would buy the album for the fourth time (Japanese vinyl+CD/DVD, EU CD, and this)

My simple review on the album, attempting not to spoil anything for those holding out (sorry if I do)

Spoiler:

Album review in general: Truth be told I lean more towards sentimental and ballad types of songs (which is why I find my obsession with SCANDAL strange sometimes, although I do enjoy my rock songs), so it's no surprise that I really like this album. Based on what I hear from the new songs so far it is one of the better ones IMO, and really kinds of breaks out from their previous releases. From garage rock style in BEST SCANDAL, to what I consider mainstream pop in BABY ACTION, to the straight out rock style in QAT and the explosiveness that is STANDARD, it was really great to hear SCANDAL exploring their sentimental side for once, and it really doesn't disappoint. Kinds of reinforces how multi-faceted their music styles can be. But I'm still crying out for a proper ballad along the styles of Namida no Regret and one piece, which happened to be the last one they did. Whoever told SCANDAL rock bands shouldn't do ballads deserves a slap to the face.

Outstanding songs (at first impression): Onegai Navigation, Place of life, Kan Biiru, Winter Story, Oyasumi (this is just my RINA bias in action)

I love some songs a bit more obviously but overall the album is solid, great, awesome !

I've finally traced my memory to the origin of that tune that's making me remind from listening Read a Book, and it came from Cinderella lol

Most of what I ordered for HELLO WORLD arrived earlier this morning~ Everything I ordered from CDJ came but I'm still waiting on the order from Tower Records. It should be here by the end of the week or by next week at the latest.

I ordered the Regular Edition from Tower Records to get Haruna's clear file and everything else was ordered from CDJ. The entire order...

So... A pretty big shipment from CDJ this time. I was kind of surprised at the package's size when it came haha. ^.^"

As for the album itself.... I really quite like it. I'm not sure if I'd say I like it better than STANDARD. Actually, I think I like STANDARD and HELLO WORLD equally at this point. The two albums show two different sides of the band. STANDARD shows a more rock side while HELLO WORLD definitely shows a more sentimental side to the girls. The album is actually kind of bittersweet in a way. A lot of the lyrics are sweet yet sad at the same time. The lyrics might just be one of my favorite parts about the album really.

My favorite song off the album hands down is Onegai Navigation. I really like SCANDAL's rock songs so it's no surprise to me that Onegai is my favorite song haha. It's a solid rock piece and definitely one that is probably amazing to hear live. It's been on repeat for quite some time now. Tongue

I'm really happy with the album. The girls definitely did a very good job on it and it certainly does show off another side to them. It'll be something playing for a while definitely. .love.

I know how you feel! I missed them while promoting Image at Tower Records and Tsutaya in Tokyo.

Well, good thing for me then, that I didn't camp there yesterday, since they were already in Osaka!

They are still here today for according to MAMI's blog.

But according to a SCANDAL tweet within the last hour, today will be spent at MBS in Kita-ku for a TV programme (I think - puipui something or other). Fat chance of bumping into them at a takoyaki stall in Namba...

BTW what's Shinseido? HMV, TSUTAYA and Tower are obvious... at first I thought it was that cosmetics company until I saw the ん in the spelling hahaha.

I read on some other site that your credit card need to be issued in Japan for it to work. I hope this isn't the case though.

@joon: they say so on Mora but only for debit/one-time debit VISA cards. They don't mention such limitations for usual VISA credit cards.

Anyway, before going too much off-topic, I'll turn things over in my head a bit more and if I decide to buy it, I'll try and let you know.

I really like the new album!

It doesn't top QaT for me but it's definitely up there with STANDARD even if it has a bit of a different feeling to it.

One thing I really really reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaly wish was that they didn't autotune Rina in Oyasumi!
She has a really nice voice and the autotuning just sounds tacky and not good imo

Contrary to how other people seem to feel, I really like Honn wo Yomu, I think it's my favourite so far on the album!

I like this album, but not as much as I like Standard
I love Graduation, Onegai Navigation and Kan Biruu.
TOMOMI's voice is great on Kan Biruu, she made an excellent job making this song, the same with Graduation.

Hon wo yomu, love in action and place of life are pretty good.

And Oyasumi, I don't know how to feel about it, I prefer Koi no Hajimari wa Diet

BTW, I'm already in love with this album .clap.

some of Oyasumi's parts sounds distorted (for example 00:25 -00:38, 01:30-02:20) in all of my headphones (ATH M50, ATH ES700, ATH IM70, Sennheiser Momentum on Ear) but it does sound fine in our 30 yr old JVC speakers

note: playing it in ipod touch 3rd gen and Asus K55V laptop using itunes)

I can't stop listening to this song! Timo really did well to come up with this gem, so proud of her. Also worth mentioning is Mami's awesome fills and little riffs all over the song from start to finish. And the solo is very nice as well Tongue

Lots of good stuff on this album, Kan Biiru, Image, Onegai Navigation, Graduation, Hon wo Yomu and love in action stands out for me at this moment. Hon wo Yomu in particular is a really clever song with a real hooky melody and nice lyrics. If only I could ask Mami how she came up with the words and music. The other songs are great as well.

On the whole, an impressive effort and to me overall this album is more consistent than STANDARD. And I *LOVE* STANDARD so this is really saying something.

When STANDARD came out last year, I wondered if the girls could live up to it with their newer releases. I shouldn't have worried because yes, yes they did live up to it.

9.5/10 would listen again. And again. And again.
