I've got finals coming in 5 weeks and should resume studying, but I must post a "short" review of my wonderful experience thus far.
Started queueing only around 10am on Saturday with close to a hundred people ahead, though it was a warm 9 hour wait before the 1.5 hour show, it was definitely worth it being relatively close to the girls from the stage. Although I've attended several kpop concerts in the past, no doubt they were fun and really enjoyable in some way, but something was really lacking; that was the musical quality of a live band with no lip-synching. Although only a 1.5 hour show, a little shorter than I had hoped, it was pure aural bliss listening to these 4 dedicated/talented girls making music with their hands. There were several points where I felt my heart being tugged - moved; watching their guitars being laid out or tuned, the tools of their trade that have followed them across Japanese cities - just seeing them brought a sense of vicarious pride for the girls. Another goosebump-raising moment was when Haruna had everyone singing to a verse during Shunkan. Finally, listening to the intro tune of Scandal Baby, one of my favourite songs somewhat made me tear a little. It's funny how we can get so attached to songs by truly appreciating the music even without knowing what the lyrics mean entirely for many of us, I guess that's what it means to enjoy music on a different level.
As they left the stage, a tinge of sadness seeped in, as it dawned upon me that the show was over. The last special memory to be forged was at the 'high-touch' session', which I had instinctively 'turned' into a handshake with the girls. (Of course the security started reminding that we're only supposed to do a hi-touch, but it was too late anyway). While it was quite a rush, I did manage to convey to Tomomi that I was really thankful that they visited SG to perform, and likewise, she reciprocated her appreciation by thanking me for coming too! Thereafter, I only managed to cursorily greet Mami, Rina, and Haruna before getting a copy of the poster.
Before finally leaving, a handful of friends whom I attended the concert with decided to camp around the exit area waiting for the girls to depart in the 2 Toyota cars. After 20 mins of waiting or so, we finally waved goodbye to them as they left, for Japanese dinner (acc to Rina's tweet). I certainly hope to see them again soon! Possibly when they may have released another album by then
