I loved the trailer too. Now I have the urge to watch the full Budokan concert. I feel that it'll be a waste if they do not release a DVD

International PerformerThey performed this night in Paris ( 1st of July) and I read some early comments of the show and people were really happy. Live performance with the Kami band. It seems that there was a good mix of heavy metal fans (some with Slayer T shirts) and wotas.

Indie ArtistI've been a fan of BABYMETAL for a few months now. ^.^ I was actually surprised because I didn't think I'd like them that much but the combination of their music really impressed me.
I'm going to see BABYMETAL when they perform in L.A on July 27. I was really hoping for a Bay Area show but them choosing L.A does not surprise me.... Everyone chooses L.A over San Francisco. xD Oh well, it's the perfect excuse to go back to L.A, I haven't been there in years. It'll be nice to see L.A again for a few days.
I'm really happy to see that BABYMETAL brought their live band on tour with them. ^.^ There was a part of me that was weary they wouldn't bring the live band on the world tour; this makes me more excited to see their performance. c:
After seeing some of the videos though, I'm seriously reconsidering wearing the skirt I was planning to. There was talk of dressing up for the L.A concert and I thought it was a neat idea... But now wearing a tutu skirt isn't seeming like such a good idea. x) The skirt looks pretty similar to the one the girls were wearing at the France live, except it's black. c:

Indie ArtistI watched some fan videos of their 1st of July concert in Paris. Everything was great and the crowd was great too. I was really glad that they brought over their live band too. It wouldn't be as awesome if it was Babybones.
I envy you Airi-chan XD All I'm capable of doing right now is watch fan videos and wait until I'm able to attend one of their concerts. It would be something I'd have to witness before anything happens to the group (like break up or something). Anyways, I'm sure you're gonna have an awesome time so have fun!

wow it's awesome that you will see them ! Just few more days to wait.
In Paris, in reviews that I've read, something really nice happened even before the show :
a local security guy showed the stage to his little girl and she waved to the fans. Almost all fans waved at her too.
(and in France, people still tend to have a bad opinion of metal fans .wtf. )
Also, there were parents, kids, metal fans, wotas, a very well mixed audience.
I share some fan videos (good quality for fan cams):

Being I like idols and metal I am also a big Babymetal fan, but it worries me that they are not really one or the other.
Are their fans going for the girls or the music I wonder ?
But anything that brings idols to the west is a good thing in my opinion.

Not easy to decide what kind of band they are, but they've created a new genre in my opinion. For example the band Passcode could be defined as the same kind of music.
For the fans, I've read that hardcore metal fans were there for the concept (heavy sound with cute voices). A lot of them also listen to idols bands for what I've seen. So it definitively shows that idol bands can gather various audience (and it's a good thing).
About the younger fans, it's probably more because of the idol concept (3 young girls around their ages). But I'm sure even the younger fans know really well the band (and Sakura Gakuin too)
I agree with you, plus they did a concert all by themself, not in a japanese convention.

Yup~ Now the only problem is actually finding an affordable hotel in L.A.... In Hollywood nonetheless lol. x)
Aw. That's really cute he did that. ^.^ It's nice to see metal fans acting a bit softer for a change haha. c: It looks like BABYMETAL is doing some pretty good things for metal fans over there in that case, and in other places too. I think that's one of the things I've always liked about BABYMETAL. The fact they can bring together such different people has been really amazing to see. ^.^

As a guy who used to listen to Metallica and such in the 1980's, then followed the grunge and industrial scene pretty heavily through the 1990's, I find it kind of funny that I like Babymetal. I can't help at laugh at myself, and wonder at what my 20 year old self would have said about the group. There are a lot of metal-snobs out there that, to me, are some of the worst music fans in the world. They're like hairy, poorly dressed versions of the wine/cheese/string quartet crowd.
As a guy in my 40's, the reason I started to accept that I like Babymetal is because I can't help but smile when I watch their videos. I can't help but like music that makes me happy.
I read this quote about Babymetal from a music review website that specialized on metal music: "They are so not metal that they come all the way back around to being metal again."

I have been a huge Sakura Gakuin fan ( Cherry Blossom Academy ) since 2010 and I am sure you know that BABYMETAL are one of their many sub units.
My favourite member is Moa Kikuchi and my favourite song is "Doki Doki Morning"

Loads...I have all 4 of their albums
I expect you know that Suzuka Nakamoto's big sister Himeka Nakamoto is in Nogizaka46.
Two idols in one family must be pretty unusual.

Wow, I didn't know that.
You know, that reminds me of an interesting thought I had last year. Japan is in a phase of very increased popularity of idol groups (they weren't very popular at all during the 1990's, for example), so there have been a lot of girls involved in the industry over the last ten-15 years or so (Morning Musume started in 1997, but didn't get much commercial success until 1999). Many of those girls from 5+ years ago are married with children now.
What got me thinking about this was reading that Ohori Megumi had a baby girl last year. I became really interested in knowing something about these girls' experiences with the idol industry. I would love to ask former idols like Ohori, "Based upon your experiences in the entertainment industry, good and bad, how would you respond if your daughter said she wanted to try out for one of the national idol groups?"
I think, if an honest answer were given (either way), it would give a very interesting bit of insight into what being an idol is really like.
Edit: I just looked up Nakamoto Himeka, and you can definitely see the family resemblance to Su-Metal.
