Really disappointed to see how a very popular team-based game continues to reject adding a much more efficient and impactful method of communication. It's like playing a casual game of soccer or basketball without speaking. Nobody's going to be taking their sweet time to type out calls and add a little more coordination in the middle of a heated team fight. There are some things that can't be simply substituted with ping.
Until LoL adds their own voice chat like Dota 2, I can't see the quality of LoL matches improving.

Even though Cody's videos are often jokes and for entertainment purposes, I suppose you could argue that there is some truth to it. A bad community can make voice chat look amazing but a good community would make voice chat seem unnecessary/a waste of resources. The latter is what Riot sometimes hints at :/

With that said, I strongly believe that the pros outweigh the cons here. Especially in ranked play, where there's a strong population (myself included when I used to play) who desire to win and try to improve their play. In addition to nerfs/buffs/"clarity" changes, if Riot wants to continually shorten the gap between casual and competitive play, voice chat should be an option. League is expanding tremendously and Riot should look to making their prized product as first-class and professional as possible. Welcome to the big leagues with names such as Blizzard and Valve.

If drop hackers have the "lag switch", why can't voice chat have a "mute switch"?

TL;DR: It's mid-2014, LoL and their multi-million player base should have the option for voice chat. Hail Dota.  

I agree with the voice chat option. if you don't want it disable it. tho it will cause miscommunication the way i see it. Easily remedied by having an indicator that this person disabled voice chat or something like that or the 'you can hear them but they can't hear you' option is good too.

if you think about it VC will be an immense help to the serious/high ranking players. Plus playing with your friends through VC will be a blast especially in league. just imagine the troll teams winning and off meta picks just because there's no pressure when playing with friends. fun fun fun.

RIOT should hurry up and put voice chat!

Yep, Dota 2 is free to play. I'm a Dota 2 beginner as well. It has a steep learning curve but I can see it being more enjoyable than LoL.

I watch LCS! I want to watch OGN live but it starts soooo late for me. When they start playing in Korea it's like 5 or 6AM here. T_T

I'm in 2 fantasy pools. 7-2 in the first one and 4-4 in my second. Riding the LMQ and FNC hype trains.

I love the concept of the underdogs, so for this I'm gonna be rooting for Alliance and TSM to win worlds! Really hoping that their boot camp in Korea is helping. But with honesty, one of the Korean teams would most likely win just because their region has a higher level of competitive play.

My prediction for groups in rank 1 and 2 are....
Group A: Samsung White, Edward Gaming (Not really sure about EDG. Haven't seen their matches.)
Group B: TSM, Star Horn Royal Club
Group C: Samsung Blue, OMG
Group D: Alliance, Cloud 9 (<- LCS fangirl votes)

I would love to Fnatic in the quarterfinals but... they've definitely in one of the harder groups.

Let's be honest. Game 1 and Game 2 were sad to watch. I think SHRC only won game 3 because SSW got a little arrogant over confident. Sigh. Will there ever be a team to over throw the Koreans? Or shall they remain our Gods forever? 

Anyways, good job Lexian on predicting the champion correctly :D You nearly got a 100% accuracy rate if it wasn't OMG. But that's probably because of Cloud's sub in and NWS's underestimation of OMG.

If only Samsung Blue was in the other pool, then we'd see a more exciting finals haha. Having the 2 sister teams face eachother in the semis was too early, I think.

THE KOREAN DOMINANCE IS HERE TO STAY :D

I don't know about that... Samsung Blue got stomped in a 0-3 to Samsung White. Although it does feel a bit... wrong (?) for sister teams to face off during semi-finals, I have a feeling Rito may have rigged group draws to make SSB vs SSW during semis, SHRC vs SSW would have probably drawn in a larger crowd just because it's two different regions competing. At least it went out to a game 4. 

But what's so scary about the Korean Rein is how flawless SSW plays D: Sub 30 minute games. 23 minute inhibitors. They're so advanced in this game I don't think anyone can rise to give them a challenge! Not as long as Dandy is on his Rengar. My goodness. He's a God on that champion.
