Today is Pride's release day!

RINA hurried to get a copy♪
MAMI and I went together(^ω^)

I got a MAMI sticker!

So,
Last night HARUNA and I went to J-WAVE live broadcast radio♪Thank you to those who came!
Emotion was played on-air.
RINA wrote the lyrics and music for that song.
It's the first time a member has written a song.

From the end of my third year of high school, I began writing the composition. It was the first time I've written a song.
My feelings took shape out of nowhere, and I kept thinking that what can be left behind is one piece of fun of the bandー.
In 2011, the band wants to start a revolution! We want change!
Increase the things we can do.
It's okay if we're not good at something.
First, it's no use to begin an action without a cause.
Thinking it over again.
At that rate, it'll be hopeless.

We really do want handcrafted songs to reach everyone.
Those feelings we've had all along have finally taken shape.

For recording, the members individually discussed,
Rethinking basslines,
Plus guitar arrangements,
Trying out patterns of how to sing something.
Going to the studio before recording.
When the four of us were trying to figure out our sound, RINA had a different image of how it would turn out.
Many, many times we talked about it.

The conversations we haven't been able to have until now makes me happy the most, and I've really enjoyed them.

Little by little,
Our feelings take shape, we explore our personalities, and that's what we want to leave behind!
Alone, nothing can be done well, but if everyone's together, we can change.

Guitar and bass and no effect!
A straightforward approach of Emotion.
We're hoping to reach your heart.

But I find it weird that they have to buy their own singles D:? Shouldn't they own copies of their singles since they are the singers :S?

It adds up to the oricon sales chart I think. It's like the presidential candidate voting for himself in a ballot.

Another way to think about it is, if you can't buy your own CD then why would anyone else buy it?

Anyway, I'm really glad that Rina acknowledges the lack of effects and post processing as the highlights of Emotion. I think that it means they are aware that they don't want to run the risk of being over-produced. Being able to compose their own music is a step in the right direction.

I believe it's the cultural thing. Asian languages generally have certain degree of affection and respect in it when it comes to personal pronouns (as in Japanese case: watashi, boku, anata...). "I" in English is not simply "I" in other languages. I'm a Vietnamese male, and when I talk to my female friends (of my age), I talk in 3rd person as well. It sounds friendlier and less distant that way. When I talk to male friends, the "I" and "you" I used are equivalent to "boku" and "anata" in Japanese. Vietnamese entertainers generally talk in 3rd person when addressing their fans as well. It's not a rule that everyone has to adhere to, but I can certainly understand how and why Rina speaks that way. I bet she speaks in 3rd person as well when talking to her friends, given her age.

Indeed, the best form of their music is when they themselves play alone with their own instruments without effect. Just by reading this, my respect for SCANDAL, has grown. It seems she likes the rawness of the music they create/play. Well, if RINA's there to compose such songs, then I'm most certainly sticking to SCANDAL for as long as they're a band (apart from them being who they are now). RINA is certainly the writer, no?
