Well media appearances aren't that hard on them, I'd think. And they're not yet doing too many shows a year. They're also very young so I think they can take it.

As recent developments has shown, I am having a hard time accepting their current "evolution"

Not to say it isn't pleasing to the eyes, it very much is, but they're getting pretty generic. Of course I've pretty much seen this coming since TaiKimi got released, their change has been gradual, but it still kinda annoys me. It's not really about the schoolgirl uniforms per say, I can't say I care much about those, after all the girls are getting older, yet...I dunno, I guess it remains to be seen how their change will pan out.

Nevertheless, as long as they continue to play their instruments..I will support them.

Hang in there, Pally. I'm sure the girls won't disappoint us. .uhuh.

Hmm well.... I miss how they use to do pure rock no additional sound loops just two guitars, bass and drums no extra synthesizers if know what I'm talking about.. I miss how Mami used have her hair in like ponytail Mercurius said... how they were 4 schoolgirls making their way through the industry now big over advertised and over endorsed beautiful women... their on so many magazines its not funny.... As much as me loving them now being big rock stars... I still can't forget how they were just only a few years ago. O not last but least their awesome head banging- the way Tomo and Mami used to do it like a real Rock.

It is only My Humble Opinion, that SCANDAL's member now feel like playing music is more to work, fulfill their duties(for their fan's)... If you can see before(flashback...), When they go up to stage, they don't think about anything, only let it flow and do what they want... In stage, They don't think about image, fans, choreo, or what will they do next. They "play" the song as the literal meaning of "play", have fun ^^. If i can say, that's their holyland.

Before they like to doing odd thing, and hyper thing that i think it is funny. They don't care about image after all.
It always like that for a new band

When they start to get bigger, many thing changes
They need to care their look , attitude, speech, And they start to have fans so they must think of them, not let them disappointed. And as their band start to get bigger, they have big responsibility you know, they got push from many direction. It is not different like when we work in company. they must fulfill the duty, do what other say, kill their ego. I think that what common people say it is "maturity"...

This cycle, like or not must been done by every band nowadays(not girlband or boyband which is manufactured). Many fall, and only little survive.

If they got survive in this step it mean they alredy get their style that no one can interference(in SCANDAL case, it mean the label trust 100% to SCANDAL and let them walk as their pleased because even the label admit without their interference, SCANDAL wan walk on), in this step you can say they are legend.

Don't lose hope for SCANDAL but if i look what major's do nowadays is kill musician creativity a lot.

I think we should let them know: just be themselves and have fun don't worry about fulfilling what not for the fans because we will always know their giving their shot. I think most fans of any band or celeb want to see their idols natural. I wish that Scandal would just wear minimum makeup because we all know how they look without it.... we don't need makeup to trick us. Only if the carefree and not uptight Scandal would come back.....

lol i don't mean i dislike them now and want them to come back like before. Only answering the topic that what i miss about old SCANDAL. Sometime you need to loss something to gain other thing. I don't think what they done now is bad instead the opposite. So that's only my conclusion..

No, to be perfectly frank their music hasn't changed much. A bit more poppish yes, and a bit more synthesized, yes, but overall they aren't resorting to cheap auto-tune or a complete genre switch.

I don't like the way their imaging is turning out, but their music remains awesome really =/

I'm just worried that by next year, their image will overshadow their music, and by then, their music will pretty much be an added bonus, instead of the most appealing thing.

I don't really mind changes. We make constantly changes in life; they are growing up, just like we are and experimenting.
I liked all their songs so far, like actually it's the first group, where i do NOT dislike a single song. As long as it stays that way, they can change whatever they want.
And the memory of the "old" SCANDAL will never fade<3

i agree, i also i see this whole image thing as simply growing up. the girls always say that they are working hard and continuing to grow. in addition to growing as musicians, they are growing as people and honestly those two really go hand-in-hand.

even if they aren't exactly the same girls they were back in 2008, the one thing that remains constant regardless of image is their love of music. like pally said, what we've heard from LOVE SURVIVE proves that they still know their roots. and you know it's true when you hear them play live.

there are few actual musicians that stay successful by standing still; one who comes to mind is Jay Chou -- he knows it and he openly admits it -- but he still gets criticism for that decision anyway.

image is just that -- an image, and it will distract you only if you let it.

I guess its true they can never be the girls they were in 2008 still teenagers and having fun. Its now probably down to business, its now their job. I hope they stay strong till the very end. I'm gonna have to get my butt over to Japan or where ever to see them perform before they disband which I would never wish to have happen.... I wish they'd do a pure rock mini album like their first one with Kagerou, Fruits of Love and Space Ranger. That would totally prove their still not heading towards pop. :onionrider:

From how the band has been progressing since the day I discovered them through a delibrate attempt to find cool J-rock band (which I still didn't have under my music radar back then) I knew it wasn't going to be that long 'till they turn close to what we thought they weren't going to be about - the mainstream stuff.

I'm a little bit concerned about bands going this way since a lot of bands have been through this and we're not new to the fact that bands that go super mainstream mostly have their work mostly done with a high percentage of commercialism running behind it. We know that most commercially driven music has a high pontential of being disposable or, in other words, being a mere fad - awesome today, becomes "so yesterday". I'm glad SCANDAL hasn't become like this - not yet.

Do I like their new stuff? Definitely. Actually I wish that they'd become more popular like those girl/boygroups - popular enough that they get to book a show and have a merchandise distributor here in my country, before something not good happens to their career like any other band. XD They remind me of the way FOB had their careers, it was just in time that they finally had a show here in my country just barely a year before they had that long, long "break".

A different thing could happen to SCANDAL though, we don't know for sure whether if they will still be in the next days. And if they'll be tomorrow, we don't know how, where, who will they be - just like any artist.

But what I miss about them right now? Almost everything before the 2nd half of their Temptation Box era - the predominant rock sound, careless performances, etc. I really thought for one that they would lean more on the rock/underground side like their friends, Steropony or the Oreskaband, which could have been great influences, while still maintaining a good reception from the popular audience. Today, they look so commercialized, they almost represent half the opposite of what a band should really be in my opinion. (I'm not a fashion-guy, but the latest all-black glamorous attire isn't just working for me, bring back the OCP civilian attires!)

I understand that they gotta pay the bills though, their parents aren't letting them out of the country or in the streets just to make some music they even might not be able relate to expecting for nothing in return - you didn't think they didn't want their kids to have regular day jobs and help the family a bit financially like most parents do, did you? LOL! I hope they and their families are happy with their paycheck, living out their dreams of becoming rockstars after making lots of sacrifices and taking the risk of not even making it as a band when they started, playing music that I think they still want to make, and performing infront of millions of fans and admirers around the globe, with all the merchandise and stuff.

But, you know, I do also think that it's a good thing to not add to their daily pressures and just let these changes happen to them and let them take it all in being SCANDAL while it lasts. Bands and fans alike come and go. I too might go if the whole rock band thing goes down in to the mainstream tube - sorry Haru & SH. No band has lasted forever, but we'll never forget this particular band for sure, right? They were truly one in a million. My entry point and influence for J-rock and in live performances in general. I just hope SCANDAL will have a smooth farewell after all of this is done.

But for now, EVERYBODY SAY YEAH! LOL! I mean, hoping for another 3 more albums, an intercontinental tour (including SEA countries LIKE THE PHILIPPINES *ahem*), an extensive English speaking and writing course for SCANDAL, etc. all happening under one more decade wouldn't hurt, right? :-D

I actually saw that interview, and while I was watching it, I couldn't help but think, "why not just use your actual personal attires, then?" Hehe! But, yeah, if I were them, I wouldn't be comfortable with people sticking their nose on what I wear on stage, specially if I'm the one who came up with it. I was assuming it was all the label's idea.
