New song "Line of sight" will be the theme song for the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam Arsenal Base LINXTAGE arcade card game out in late February!


"Line of sight" was written expressly for the game, and the band members have released their comments about it!

We have written the theme song for Mobile Suit Gundam Arsenal Base LINXTAGE.

Since we are celebrating our 17th anniversary this summer, we were very happy to have been asked at this point in time when we want to further accelerate ourselves.

We started working on the song after meeting with the Arsenal Base team and sharing our feelings with one another.

Because our song will also be playing during the battle scenes that'll make the players' emotions run high, we made sure to create an uptempo dance song that can further boost those emotions.

The world view of Gundam and characteristics of the game are interspersed in the lyrics along with the thoughts of the band.

It would make us happy if you could enjoy our song along with the Arsenal Base game!

Mobile Suit Gundam Arsenal Base is a real-time strategy arcade card game in which the player becomes a commander and commands 5 mobile suits and 5 pilots to fight against enemy battleships.

With a large touch panel housing that is specialized for playing card games, you can take command of your troops with touch operations in response to the battle situation that changes in real time. A lot of new content will be recorded in this series, including the new "LINXTAGE BATTLE" where two players can sortie at the same time, and the implementation of the battleship and captain selection function.

I found it hard to hear Haruna voice, due to the woman talking. The song sound fast pacing anyway.

I like the artwork, it seems to indicate the beginning of a new era.

And the full song might be available on Friday, though it will probably be underneath all the sound effects of the game.

At first listen, pretty obvious this is an anime related song.
Tomomi biased will be happy the bass is the most up front in their recent work.
Maybe they can add a little instruments doodle at the middle during ther next live playing this one.

Sounds fine. I definitely prefer it over anything from Mirror (except maybe Spice, if bonus tracks are included). The only small issue I have are various noises throughout the song.

It's actually very hard to try and listen to Radiko with a VPN since it's region restricted even in Japan (as in, radio stations are only available to listen to in the region they're physically located in). Example: In order to listen to FM802, which is located in Osaka, you'd need to somehow find a VPN with an IP address in the Kansai region.

Instead, try out the Rajiko extension. No VPN needed since it'll automatically unblock any region restrictions, plus it lets you record and download the actual radio programs.

btw anyone else think that the chorus of "Line of sight" sounds like the chorus of "Guren no Yumiya," the first OP song for Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan? My friends and I all think so lol

@thoseguiltyeyes yeah, my VPN service only had Kanto servers. And when using the VPN, my wifi stops working, and Google Translate on my phone stops working, so I'd have to turn off the VPN, translate the error messages, and then turn it back on and try something else. I saw that extension, but I don't run Chrome on any of my computers. This was all happening at 4pm Pacific, and by the time 6 rolled around, I was watching Netflix and feeling sorry for myself, lol.
And yeah, that chorus is awfully similar.
The song is not my favorite. What some people find exciting, I find stressful. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm old, ha ha. Saishuheiki Kimi is about my speed. It's more open sounding. They play fewer notes. There's breathing space. It's the same reason I play RPGs instead of shooters. This song is for a shooter type game, so I guess they did a good job, but I need to breathe. I also prefer guitars that are angry, but not white noise furious.
Just to spur a lively conversation, I'd like to say that I think Band Maid has been a bad influence on Scandal. Discuss, lol.
Also, I want to support the band and buy a bunch of copies, but I don't want to support this particular kind of song. This is a fine line association problem. What should I do? How many copies? (no more than 100 please!)

I'm not familiar with the song that this apparently sounds like, but I really do like this new tune.  It's representative of the kind of music I prefer from Scandal.  Hope whatever they are working on in the studio is more like this.

28th Single Line of sight will be released on May 10!

"Line of sight" is SCANDAL's first new single in about a year since studio album MIRROR was released in January 2022.

The song was written as the theme song for the arcade card game "Mobile Suit Gundam Arsenal Base LINXTAGE."

The new release will be available in four formats:

Has Scandal done this before, releasing a song digitally, then later as a physical copy? I just wonder if Victor wanted to wait and see how it sold before committing themselves to making CDs or something. Or is it just marketing?

I just listened to the songle on Apple music with Apple Digital Master and it sounds soooo good. I hope we get the instrumental in the CD release.

They have not done this before, but they must have been planning to physically release this since before the song came out digitally. I don't think sales/streaming numbers made any difference.

By the song came out digitally, they had already done/worked out several things: They did a whole photoshoot for it ahead of time, the covers were already ready to go, the edition types were already worked out, the design+details for SCANDAL x Gundam 'passport' that'll come with the Merch Edition were also already worked out, the details of the signing events were already worked out, etc.

Some possibilities:

-They just wanted to get at least the lead song out close to when the Gundam game it was written for was released (late February)

-They had been planning from the start to release this single physically, but one or more elements were not going to be ready by March and so pushed the release date to May (and they wanted to avoid the release date clashing with their April tour)

Perhaps something like that.

－What emotions went into the B-side song "Vision"?

RINA: When we performed at "COUNTDOWN JAPAN 22/23" at the end of last year, our videographer whom we've been good friends with for a long time, and who shot our documentary film, came to see us. When we were talking in the dressing room, she said to me, "You sometimes deny yourself, RINA." What I send out as a part of SCANDAL is positive, and I want to say that everything we do is correct, and that I like myself too. But when I'm alone or not on stage, I'm the type to hate myself and get frustrated wondering why SCANDAL is staying at the same level of obscurity. I am who I am, and I can't help that, but when she told me that she wanted me to keep a good mindset as much as possible when on stage, I was so moved that I wrote this song the moment I got home from the festival. That's why I wrote it as if telling all of this to myself, but without thinking that deeply about it, and since it's a song that you can dance to, I would be happy if you listened to it feeling good.

RINA: That's right (laughs).



－That's why you wondered if you could turn it into a song right away, or connect it to the band.

RINA: I'm good when the band's good, and that's when I'm the happiest in my life. That's why I want to be even better, and my ideal is to always have a wonderful vision. I wrote this song with this in mind.

Couldn't agree more and I can't stand Band Maid I have nothing to add to that
