I'll begin by saying that one of the things I'm grateful to SH for (aside from bringing SCANDAL fans around the world closer together for their common admiration of the band) was that it led me to appreciate what other people's interests were, particularly in music. It was here (on the "Rate the song above" thread, to be exact) that I first saw this video while browsing through the forums one afternoon. It was Kylee's "VACANCY":



I had heard of her before, but never really bothered to listen to her stuff until that one afternoon on SH. And I was floored. I thought, she's Japanese AND she's singing in English? Hmm. That's different. I got so hooked on the song that I looked for the video again on YouTube the next day and listened to it a couple of times more. Then I started to watch the suggestions for related videos on the sidebar. And one video led to the next, the next video led to a download, one download led to another... And before you know it, I was a fan. (I will definitely buy her next album when it comes out. No downloads next time.)

Everything anyone needs to know about Kylee can be found on this video. (I chanced upon this too while browsing for more videos of her.) Fox News called her "the real-life Hannah Montana", and no other title could have described her any better. Though I have to say, she's a million miles ahead of Hannah Montana:



At present, she has had one studio album out and her songs have been featured on the movie "Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac" and animes such as "X'amd: Lost Memories" and "Heroman". She was also one of the artists who performed on YUI's tribute album "SHE LOVES YOU" (along with SCANDAL) with a cover of "My Generation." Her latest single, "Daisuki Nanoni", is now the current OP to the anime "Zetsuen no Tempest":

I'm also a Kylee fan. been one since she released her major label debut single Kimi ga iru kara.

she has a mixture of genres, and i like the different music she produces. some may be rock, then pop or mixture of both and what not. it would be nice to see a live of hers.

Might I recommend you give her "17" album a listen. There's a good mix of pop and rock songs there. You'll be surprised which songs you end up liking afterwards. I know I was. :P

Agreed. Her voice pretty much suits both genres. And she's got a strong voice, at that! For someone as young as her to belting out high notes as she does is pretty amazing.
And yes, I'd like to see her sing live too. Perhaps if I'm in LA in time for the J-Pop Summit and she gets invited again, I'd definitely check her out. (Hopefully they invite SCANDAL, too. Double treat!) :D

i have seen Kylee live and she still sounded great at the jpop summit! i hope to see her live in a venue and not have the wind and stuff blowing around. but she has a strong voice and can sing pretty good live. her at the jpop summit was a great experience.

Been checking out the videos from last year's Summit again. I gotta say... It didn't sound like the wind affected her singing. If it did, it was hardly noticeable. (Probably because it wasn't that cold. IDK. The sun was still out, though.) There were a few pitch problems here and there, but overall it was still a solid performance.

Oh. And I loved "Unnoticed" and "Anywhere" even more after seeing them sung live. :>

your right, the sun was beaming but it was somewhat windy. a little but you can't notice it. hehe the people in front of me took videos and ended up blocking my freaking view of her. but overall her voice was great when she sang, some missed pitches but she was really good that day.

You know how it can get in live shows. Everyone wants a snapshot. LOL!

Speaking of which, I heard there was someone stopping the crowd from taking videos that day. Kinda unusual considering the venue was on open grounds. :s

Couldn't believe it myself, either. Thought she was around MY age! But no doubt, the kid's got talent.

FEEL is such a nice video. Very colorful and cheerful. One of my favorite songs and PVs from her as well. :bd

yeah jmelo was trying to stop people from taking videos, pictures were okay but they were trying to stop the recording of videos of the concert. it was most likely due to jmelo was going to air this on tv and other stuff that goes on.

yes some people wanted to literally get up there and film and take the best pics. i mean really? haha but that's just me. i rather enjoy the live without trying to take videos cuz it'll end up horrible for me in terms of camera quality.

I got to see her at Yoshi's in Oakland a couple of days ago and I gotta say I was impressed. I have heard of Kylee before but never really paid much attention to her until I discovered that she sang the ending for Zetsuen no Tempest. Then I found out that she was having a live at a local venue so I decided to check her out along with SCANDAL Heaven member GeoFreak.

First things first, she's really cute. Haha, a lot cuter than her vids. She also has this head banging routine which was totally "jpop" but cute. Second, she has a really great voice, she has a lot of potential and I'd say she'd be really big in a few more years. Third, her band is great. The drummer and guitarist was really good BUT I didn't like how she had to compete with the band to be heard.

Overall, I really like her style and I can't wait to see where she goes.

Oh, BTW, my favorite songs from her would be It's You, Kimi ga Iru Kara, Daisuki Nanoni and Crazy for you.

As for the whole "competition" thing... Maybe it's just the sound system? Live venues can be tricky sometimes. But IDK, I'd have to hear it for myself. All her other lives - the ones on Youtube, anyway - seem fine, though. She and the band gel together very well.

Oh yeah. Now I remember. "EVERYWHERE" was a J-MELO collabo with their viewers. That's why they taped it... But seriously, the whole show? It was just that one song that aired on TV. SMH...

And I agree with you on just watching the show than taking videos. Just bringing those big-a** cameras is a hassle in itself. -_-

She's coming to France, next week, for the biggest exibition about Japanese culture in France for showcase and signing ! It's going to be amazing to meet her !

Hawaii Fan - It was a closed venue, really intimate so that might have something to do with it. But I felt like the band could have toned it down a bit. Can't blame them coz everyone was having a lot of fun rocking out.

BTW - Kylee along with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Daichi and Una will be at Jpop Summit in Union Square in Sf next month! Juiced for that

They might've missed something during their soundcheck. Oh well. Perhaps that next performance at the J-Pop Summit will be a more pleasant experience on your part (since it's open grounds). Haha! Share your pictures too, please! :D

And to think she did that when she was still a kid... She's come a long way now, but I will never get tired of that video. It's the same feeling with SCANDAL and their old-school seifukus. :>

So she's coming tomorrow, thursday, and of course I will. It won't be difficult to take a photo of her but I can't assure i could take a close picture with her .lol.
