Seeing that Scandal is about to release their 10th studio album, I thought it would be interesting to look into what some classic rock artists had released as their 10th studio album as if to get an idea what could be expected (or not expected).
No live releases or compilations were included as part of the 10th album factoring. This is because Scandal does not consider "Encore" nor any of their live DVDs (the last two came with CDs) as official album releases.
Since Scandal is primarily known as a rock band, I tried to choose familiar and successful artists in the rock genre without going too far into the edges.
For solo performers that were previously in bands, I only included the solo output.
What I find most interesting about this list is that unlike Scandal, most of these bands and solo artists did not record their 10th album with their original lineup or original backing band.
Those that did are marked with an asterisk (*); and those that did so without any breakups in their lineup have two asterisks.
The second aspect that is interesting to me, and this is a personal feeling, is that very few of these albums would be considered in any of these artists' "Best Of" lists. Even with a vague familiarity of some of these bands, I'm sure you can spot the winners. If you are familiar with the bands, then you will definitely know where they got too experimental and went off the rails completely.
Also, there are a lot of iconic bands that never released, or officially recorded and released a 10th studio record (ex. Led Zeppelin, The Police, CCR, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Black Crowes, Dave Matthews to name a small few).
