Pop Asia TV Show in Australian TV on weekend 9am channel SBS our multi cultural channel

Even though it is called Pop Asia its really a front for K-Pop promoting. However.... last weekend , some Japanese stuff on.Pon Pon Pon and Perfume.

Just hoping they put on Scandal or Gacharic Spin or Flip to show them how its really done with girls that can actually play there instrument as well.

Its fairly mainstream show , but maybe Pin Heel Surfer might fit their format .

I will log onto the shows site and start plugging J-girl bands ...Scandal No.1 of course : )

I've heard of this show as well.

Awhile ago, they did a little Pop 101 segment on SCANDAL.


It seemed promising that they could play some of the music videos, but I've barely checked the show in order to find out.

I think I remember suggesting that they play some Scandal songs on their web podcast, and they actually liked my post. But sadly, they didn't play any.

PopAsia doesn't receive so much on Jpop compared to Kpop. I once heard that KPOP companies more willingly give out MVs to play rather than Japanese companies. Just as Kpop concerts normally allow fancam which is why their popularity keeps growing... as to SCANDAL who's video's keep getting taken down...

well it's not good for their business, and the copyright law in japan and korea is different.
it's a really good thing to guide their "creation" and i think it's a mater of respecting and appreciating the creator by not shearing the "creation" illegally.

what we indonesians have is k-pop hits or some whatever the title is.

it's like only k-pop that is become really famous!

@Mr.Suzuki: maybe it's because you don't get used with the man's accent. it's very different with american nor british. but if you listen closely, i think you'll get the point. he didn't say any hard word. i think.

yeah i agree that they're just pushing kpop, and i dont have a problem with that, the should change the name to sbs kpop tho lol

was waiting for them to do a "SCANDAL special" like they did for Big Bang and SHINee and most other kpop groups that released albums.. sigh i guess we're in the minority

Pop Asia is backed by big money from Korea for the push into America and Japan, the show pretends to represent Asia by putting token japanese and Chinese , Tawain stuff on but its all about the k-POP MACHINE. THE SPONSORS for Sydney are Korean companies.

When they filmed K-pop concert they zoomed any Aussie girls to give impression lots of girls here are into it. Deceptive.

Lets flood Pop Asia show with emails and texts to get more Scandal on the show, and maybe they will tour here. : )

They only play Kpop so that people only know Kpop and have more Kpop support... unfortunately even if we ask for more Jpop there is a limit for how much they can put up... they only put a select few bands or Groups from Jpop so its kinda stupid asking for more SCANDAL because they don't represent Jpop/rock as a whole.

They should be more honest with the title, get rid of the Asia bit. i just wish japanese companies would market more stongly OS as K-pop does, then we might see the bands come to our countries.

Hmmm. Pin heel surfer doesn't need to be the pv that is shown... I checked back on the show a couple of months ago and they were playing Blue by Vivid. For all the bleach fans out there, it's the 14th opening of Bleach. They're full-on rock as seen in the pv... but they still managed to grab the spot...

at some point in time they played SPYAIR, YUI and they did play Love Survive a few times.. guess they just cant fit some more with all the kpop in it

^^ Really... they played Love Survive??? Who knew? I would've thought that Taiyou Scandalous would've been put on as well. I wanna watch Scandal on tv but it's not like Popasia has a music and pv schedule, right...??

I'm not exactly gonna watch two hours of just kpop.... No offence to anyone. Kpop just isn't my thing...

They are more K-pop orientated but that just reflects the nature of the audience. There are just more kpop fans than jpop fans in Australia!
I don't really tune in every week, but I do watch it time to time.
It's definitely a great development, and I hope they take it further!

Hmmm... Popasia had their top 100 of 2012... Scandal managed to grab a spot...

At least you have a station that plays Asian music !
Here in the UK we have lots of Indian music channels ( because we have lots of Indians ! )
but nobody plays J-Pop or K-Pop.

SBS should make "RockAsia", that would be cool
Then SCANDAL would definitely be on Australian television weekly :D
