Instrument/s: As for instruments, I can play the piano but I'm not really that good with it. I am always on vocals since here at my university, we have an organization called "Otaku Shoyuuken" and we hold a semestral live music performance. I've been the vocalist for three years now.

Skill level/experience: I'm not sure if my voice is that good, but I can provide some few links of the covers I have made.

just wanna try my luck as i sometimes did guitar cover on youtube...and mainly scandal and one ok rock song...so why not try to do cover for a band as well .hail.



Instrument/s: Guitar (in my band i play lead part, but i can play rhythm too ^^)

Skill level/experience: i have played guitar for about 7 years, and for my experience i participated in talent show in my school and got 5th place out of 20 groups, and i also participated in battle of the band held by my uni and won 3rd place in that battle. sometimes i perform with my band on an open day held by my school.

sometimes i used my laptop (mcbook air), my brother samsung camera and my iphone 6. it has a good sound tooo, you can hear from my cover hehe

We have one question, though - should you wish to join in and co-contribute. It's regarding your audio recording.

Everyone that's involved in SHCB have access to direct recording onto their laptop/PC/tablet, and if I understand from what you are saying (and that may explain why your cover's audio is not loud enough), you are using the mic in the camera/iPhone 6 to grab the audio, which I'm afraid is sub-optimal for the covers we do at SHCB.

Do you have access to anything like an audio interface? From your ability to play the guitar, there is no real issue. So, if you can get one or record at a friend's place, that'd be superb.

Hi! Thanks for reply. Yes when im recording, i use direct mic from phone/camera and i dont have audio interface. I usually recorded my playing first then edit using sony vegas pro to synchronize my guitar with the music.

We don't have a formal entry requirement for SHCB which means anyone on SH that can play music should be able to take part in future projects.

However, everyone already in SHCB are able to record their parts using an interface to provide the best quality audio for mixing the different parts of the band together. So, if you volunteer for a project and you are the only "bad sounding" part in the mix, the cover song will not work as well as everyone would like. Even if you don't have an interface there are ways to directly plug your guitar into the computer, like this as an example:



By all means, do volunteer for any of our future projects but only when you have access to an audio interface, or have the ability to record your guitar directly onto your Sony Vegas. I understand an interface is not a cheap piece of kit, but you may know someone who may be kind enough to use theirs for a couple of hours.

We do this for fun, of course, and we are not professional musicians - but over the years we have improved as a collective, and we kind of expect new volunteers such as yourself to have the optimal recording equipment for the purpose of a cover, and unfortunately a cellphone/camera mic is not sufficient for good audio to participate in SHCB.

if i may suggest this i a very cheap alternative to interface... provided you have a split output on your rig,

one output goes to the amp, and one output goes to the computer 

that way you get a direct signal from your pedal

i also used this prior to getting an interface LOL

actually all the covers i have joined in so far were recorded thru this one

my rig chain before was 

Dunlop wah > MXR 5150 > boss chorus (this one has split output so i was able to record and have one connected to an amp)

Microphone amplifier, a cabinet simulator, connected to an external video card and using the Reaper to record. I can also use the iphone or my tablet.

Hi there - thanks for showing your interest, but before you can volunteer to take part in an SHCB project, I'm afraid using your phone as audio recording equipment is insufficient, if you are using your phone mic (please let us know if you are actually describing using a mobile workstation, eg GarageBand for iOS on an iPhone).

Another SH member had a similar query and to prevent duplicating my explanation to him, please have a look at my reply regarding recording one's part for a cover:

We are not asking anyone to go to a professional recording studio, but each active member of SHCB has access to optimal recording equipment using a desktop/laptop that is pretty much inexpensive.

Sorry for sticking my nose in! , but i would recommend using a cable with a 3.5mm plug in both ends and plug it into the headphone jack of the amp(you may need a 6.35mm adapter, it depends of the amp you're using) , and the line in or mic-in jack of the PC/laptop and then use a recording program like Goldwave. you get a good quality sound ( i use a squier bass with a pair of subpar pick-ups and the sound is pretty decent actually). again, sorry for sticking my nose in, just wanted to help a bit  hahaha
