In my opinion,SCANDAL is perfect band,they were good as they now.
all of SCANDAL member is beautiful ,their music is great,almost all of their song is good, and their choreo is also good.
but,what about all of you?
Is there any weakness in SCANDAL?
if you think there is,what it would be?

SCANDAL

To think critically of something you like isn't necessarily bad and in fact, I think is better than blind loyalty :p

I love this band as much as anyone here (obviously). I think they're awesome. I owe this band for reawakening my interest in music as a whole, I was really jaded when I discovered them. Since then, it's been a great ride. I haven't been a fan of any artist in a long, long time before this. It's a great feeling.

You're right, they're awesome the way they are now. However, having said that...

Overall, the girls could be more skillful. They've done great since forming in 2006 but there's always room for more.

Mami's been improving in leaps and bounds ever since they started but I think she still needs plenty of work. She's no shredder yet but I think in time she'll get there. Haruna also needs to work more on her guitar. I look forward to more variety from her rhythm guitar and maybe even a solo or two. I also would like to hear her play riffs instead of just power chords. I look forward to the day when they can record a full instrumental with solos from all the band members. I think that would rock pretty hard...

Ditto Rina. She's gone on to become a pretty good drummer but there are things she could learn more. Like using twin pedals. Although not necessary for their type of music, it would be so awesome if she could use them. Shiho@Stepo can use use them already and in my opinion, she's a better drummer than Rina. But Rina will catch up eventually.

I think the band needs to try and record more of their own music. They're getting there and recently their output has gone up. Slowly, slowly..

Timo? I love Timo so I'll be biased and say that she needs no improving haha :p Just kidding, but really though she's an awesome bassist. If she needs to do more of anything, it's probably going to be more slapping and more complex basslines. Which she is doing already. Her bassline in ALONES blows away everything she's done up to this point. Yes, it's even better than Appletachi, even better than HiHiHi.

Apart from these, I can't think of anything else. Sorry long post... heheh

I also love Scandal but agree that it's good to think critically about anything you like. They're my favorite band right now so just keep that in mind with whatever follows, it's all said with love

1) I think Mami could improve. I think she and Haruna are actually at about equal level as far as playing ability, but Haruna is the rhythm guitarist and vocalist - Mami should be a lot better than her. Mami's leads are all super easy and some of them (even recent ones) are just her scraping up and down the neck. Also, her tone is kind of shrill and sounds like she just took her guitar and amp out of the box - some guitarists don't think about this much but as a guitarist myself, that kind of drives me crazy

2) Both Tomomi and Haruna have their vocal issues (different ones), though I think some of that might be how they're coached to sing. Haruna doesn't have a lot of range and Tomomi sometimes sounds too cutesy, which she didn't used to. There's probably not much Haruna can do about her range but the songwriters should take it into account; it shouldn't be something we notice. (I love her voice when she's singing in her range.)

3) I would love to see them write their own songs, but honestly, it's Japan - probably ain't gonna happen

I have nothing to criticize about Rina (though Haruna is still my favorite!).

Scandal is not perfect, they arent the best band out there, they arent even the most skilled (i can even point to Stereopony or FLiP as being more skilled). However, they are unique and they can pretty much play any type of music they want to play without sacrificing their personalities that show within their music. thats why i like them, and thats why they are my favorite japanese band.

like what the other guys said, dont blindly follow them and say their the best. appreciate and acknowledge their weaknesses too.

I haven't really been a Scandal fan that long, and I'm sure they all have their own weakness to deal with. As do most members in most bands, more or less.

For me a band isn't about the skill of their individual roles that matter. When I like a band, it comes down alot to personality. Wheter it be character of the members or just personality in the different songs. Scandal have both that. They feel like a family of nice girls that keep having fun performing their songs and living the life of artists all the while still caring about their fanbase.

As long as they keep being that charming basket of different personalities, fooling around behind the arena stages making funny jokes, having enerigy on stage to perform and not lose themselves in the fame I will proudly call myself a fan of theirs.

well i think they can improve their singing skills...
and maybe HARU needs more improvement when she's singing in Live?? ><
Tomo i think she's really good but of course she can still work on bass!
Rina is turning into a really good drummer but i think she can be a greater drummer!
actually i think the thing they really needs to improve is singing!i think they can be a much much more good singer!

I'm not too bothered with how they sing live, actually - nobody's perfect live (if they are, it's a tape), I just hope they get some more songs that are really written for their strengths and don't feel like they were taken "off the shelf" from some big bank of pre-written songs. I felt like some of the songs on Baby Action were not really Scandal songs, even if they were catchy. And some of those are the songs Haruna seems to have trouble with.

I think as they get more popular, they'll get more songs that are better suited to them. I thought "Harukaze" sounded like it was written with Haruna in mind, there are only a couple of really high notes in that song that she has to hold.

Mami just needs to practice! And pay attention to her tone. I feel like she is using a lot of equipment because it's popular, but I've never thought single coil guitars and Marshall amps match very well, unless you change out the pickups to something else. They could definitely get a better sound if Mami used some different amps and effects. In the studio it's possible to use tricks to get a different sound, but you really hear how thin her guitar sounds live.

ok so here's my share in the topic:

I won't really say Scandal is perfect but for me they are the best Japanese Girl Band.

For HARUNA, when I watched the Yumemiru Shoujo Ja Irarenai w/ Nanase Aikawa I was awed on how great she played the rhythms. In terms of vocals as a front runner of the band she needs to improve the vocals more and she needs a lot of rest.

For TOMOMI, her bass playing is so flawless you couldn't notice any mistake during their lives. I'm not really fond of bass players but Tomomi and her idol Flea of RHCP is an exception. She needs to practice more bass styles so her solo would totally rock.

For MAMI, I think she needs to get out of her box when playing the guitar. We all know that MAMI is a great player but she mostly stick to the album ver. so maybe she needs to go beyond her boundaries a little more.

For RINA, I think in my opinion she improved the most in the group. And yeah that's one of the reasons why I love her. The fills she does is so wonderful and it's hard to do that during lives. But she still has a lot to improve and I'm sure she'll improve more.

Even though they have weaknesses individually you can see that once they get up the stage and play they're like different people. That's how a spirit of the band should be.

Well besides whats already been mentioned, I wish they spoke other languages, primarily the ones I understand (spanish, english, written french and written portuguese lol).
