Oh wow, look at all those lucky cats !
I have one just like that from Japan but it's left arm moves.
I was told the right arm wishes you money but the left arm wishes you friends !
It is solar powered and waves it's arm all day which drives my wife mad !

Ah thanks for translating this. I was going to but I started noodling on my guitar I had some work to do and didn't get around to it.

A cultural sidenote for those who don't know, those figurines are Maneki Neko or Beckoning Cats. They are supposed to bring luck and good fortune...

... although I have to say seeing that many of them in the same place kinda creeped me out a little bit...

i like how Tomo points out the one with bright eyes and eye lashes, haha

She also mentions a neko cafe.
It is near the top of my daughter and I's list for our trip to Japan.
You pay to spend 30 minutes in a cafe full of cats and you can play with them
to your heart's content.

It is nice to know Tomomi is a cat person, to some people that would be hell !

Once I had one of those maneki neko,the small ones,from my friends who came back from Japan.. I've lost it..well, it explains why I lost many luck in past years..

@tonymiller: I hope you and your daughter will be going to Japan soon. I just watched a video on Yahoo News about how some activists are trying to shut down the neko cafes. So far, they've been able to convince the government to limit the cats available hours. Starting in June, the cats will only be allowed to "work" up till 8PM, which pretty much limits the time office workers get to spend with the cats. And since office workers make up around 80% of the neko cafe customers...well yeah. The link to the vid is here.

This seems rather stupid. I'm sure most of you know that cats do what they want, when they want. If they don't want to play or be pet, they'll let you know or just walk away. Plus these neko cafes follow strict sanitary and animal welfare guidelines, so unless it's been found that these cafes have been violating the rules, I don't see why some people would want to try and shut them down. Maybe they want to add more stress to an already stressed-out work force?

Anyways, Tomo being Tomo again hehe. If I ever meet up with Tomo or Mami, I'll make sure to roll a lint collector over their clothes or take some Allegra first. =^..^= nyan!

I agree with you, my wife works in an old people's home and they have found that a cat or dog there really helps the residents.
My daughter and I are going in September so I really hope the neko cafe's are still there then.
The amount of stress Japanese people have anything must help !

Although my daughter and I love cat's I draw the line at cat clothes !
My friend Shoko said have we bought our cat new clothes for the spring ?
The thought of trying to dress our ginger female cat 'Missie' filled us with amusement.

My daughter has asked my friends there to find out if you can pay to spend the whole day there...hehe.

I wish there was a rabbit cafe... .happy. yes pets and animals as well as children bring happiness and stress relief for people. Looks like playing with cats in a cafe sounds like fun! .cool.

There currently are rabbits cafes in japan.

In Japanese it's not strange to refer to yourself using your own name. I seem to remember Rina doing it a lot during tv interviews.
