Indie ArtistIt's been almost two weeks since the show, which was on Friday evening, April 3, but I'll post a short report. Here's the setlist (my friend actually snagged it after the show, and I took pics of it ):
1. best day, best way
2. oath sign
-MC-
3. Thousand Enemies
4. Mitsu
5. träumerei
6. Ichiban no Takaramono
7. No More Time Machine
-MC-
8. WiLD CANDY
9. crossing field
10. ROCK-mode
11. Rising Hope
12. BRiGHT FLiGHT
-MC-
13. Shirushi
-ENCORE-
EN1. Crow Song
The show was great! There was a pretty solid group of 20 to 30 hardcore fans near the front with their pink glowsticks, doing all the wotagei. Someone also went down the line before the concert and handed out those little glowstick bracelets to everyone. I didn't have a real glowstick, so I had to use that tiny little thing instead. Still, I had a ton of fun waving it around to the music.
My favorite part was doing the WiLD CANDY dance. Before the song, she taught it to everyone, like she usually does when she performs overseas. The crowd learned it pretty quickly, so she didn't have to teach the "easy version" like she did at Anime Expo... (You can find clips of this on YouTube)
In general, one thing I love about Japanese concerts is doing the choreography with everyone, so I also really enjoyed all the more rockish songs that have glowstick waving and jumping, like best day, best way and ROCK-mode. The slow songs were also enjoyable because she really showed off her voice on some of the high notes.
At the beginning of the encore before she played the last song, she asked everyone to move toward the middle aisle and closer to the stage to take a photo. Surprisingly, the staff didn't stop us, so we all crowded in for this pic, which she tweeted after the concert:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The next day, Saturday, was the LiSA panel and autograph session (two separate events). The panel was a pretty standard anime convention musical guest panel: the MC (an Aniplex employee) asked some questions about her thoughts on the previous night's concert, her history, and her upcoming plans. They also promoted some of her recent releases by playing video clips on the projector. The one special thing was that LiSA actually went in and out of the room several times while we were in line before the panel She also walked straight up the middle aisle in between everyone, so we got to see her up close a few times!
Unfortunately the panel started late, seemingly because the convention staff had trouble setting things up, so the fans' Q&A at the end got cut short; only 4 or 5 people got to ask questions. But my friend (kaitanuva here on SH) managed to asked if she wanted to collaborate with any Japanese artists in the future. She asked who he would like to see her collaborate with, and he said SCANDAL, to which LiSA responded "We'll see..." or something to that effect. :v You can't expect much more than a PR answer to that kind of question, but at least we planted this idea in her mind... There were also other fans in the crowd who cheered at the mention of SCANDAL.
In another instance of poor planning by the convention, the autograph session was scheduled just 30 minutes after the end of the panel. This meant that by the time that fans left the panel, there was already a massive line for autographs. Kaitanuva and I ended up waiting in line for an hour and a half, only to be have the line cut off when we were only 20 spots or so from the autograph room. We had even gone through the trouble of printing that crowd photo (posted above) in hopes of getting it signed.
That was the most disappointing aspect of the whole convention, and I just lacked any energy to go to any more events during the rest of Saturday. I went home in the early evening and cheered myself up by watching LiSA live videos. I wish I had known earlier about her and how fun her concerts are, so that I could've gotten glowsticks and been more prepared to rock out with everyone. I've been watching some live clips of her almost every day since the concert, trying to relive the excitement. I hope she'll come back to the US soon, and I hope she'll have a concert the next time I go to Japan!

I like LiSA too. Maybe not a much as I used to but I still like to play some Launcher or Letters to You every now and then. Tbh I doubt her solo album will ever beat the greatness of GirlDeMo era.
