Since it's their tenth anniversary, we asked them "10 questions and answers"♪

① HARUNA-san, aside from the 10th ANNIVERSARY LIVE, what are you looking forward to this summer?
A) I want to go with the members to the ocean!

② RINA-san, what has been the most fun thing during these ten years?
A) Our first solo live at Osaka-Jo Hall!

③ TOMOMI-san, what has been the biggest challege during these ten years?
A) Boarding together during our indie days! We did no～thing but intensive instrument training!

④ MAMI-san, what was a song you covered often when you first started out?
A) Sadistic Mika Band's 「Time Machine ni Onegai」!
We began playing instruments and came to be able to play this song in a week; since we got to stand on stage, we practiced with all of our might! It was a mess, but it was fun!

⑤ HARUNA-san, who is the member that has changed the most during these ten years?
A) MAMI! She also changes her hair color, but her growth from a production aspect after coming to be able to write and compose music among the members has been remarkable!

⑥ RINA-san, what has been something that hasn't changed during these ten years?
A) The band's mindset! We're always positive! We're four pleasant people.

⑦ TOMOMI-san, what is something from ten years ago that has left an impression on you?
A) Shiroten Street. On rainy days we'd eat yakisoba and go back hom! We went from an audience of zero to one person, and our audience slowly began to grow!

⑧ MAMI-san, if SCANDAL had not formed, what kind of job do you think you'd be doing now?
A) A designer! I like drawing and making things. At the beginning of this year I bought cloth and made clothes. I made PJs for RINA-san and a shirt for myself.

⑨ Everyone, what was the biggest news for SCANDAL during these ten years?
A) Being able to continue for ten years!

⑩ Everyone, what does SCANDAL want to try doing from here on?
A) To always continue SCANDAL! If we can do that, we can do anything!

SCANDAL released their new single 「Take Me Out」 last week!
It's a song full of summer & festival feelings that was made for their tenth anniversary.
They wanted to give it a flashy impression that can give you a festival feeling! It's packed with feelings of wanting to see new sceneries! Please give it a listen.

「I want you」, the B-side song on the Regular Edition, features main vocals by RINA-san. LE's A & B feature songs by "Dobondobondo," MAMI-san & TOMOMI-san's rap unit that were last seen four years ago!

SCANDAL 10th ANNIVERSARY FESTIVAL 『2006-2016』 is also drawing near!
It'll be on 8/21 (Sun.) from 4:30 pm at Izumiotsu Phoenix♪
It's an outdoor live, so take counter-measures against the heat～!!

They will be holding "SCANDAL MANIA TOUR 2016," their fan club tour that'll go around to 7 locations nationwide, in the fall!
They'll be at Namba Hatch on 11/12 (Sat.).
Perhaps they'll perform B-side songs here?

We greeted members of SCANDAL this morning and dispatched a 「You and a scandal」 corner!

The 「E-action」 that switches you on the first thing in the morning for global band SCANDAL, who is celebrating their tenth anniversary, was super scandalous!

・TOMOMI: 「Playing Pokemon GO」 When a Bulbasaur appears in her room, that day is a good day (although it only happened once...)

・MAMI:「I water the decorative plant that TOMOMI gave to me」 When she sprays the leaves of Benjamin-san (not a bearded old guy) with water, it seems happy.

・RINA:「Stroke the wall I repapered and talk to it」 It didn't have a name yet, but it's now Catherine-san? is what it seems like. Please send our regards.

・HARUNA:「Doing handstands against the wall」 It gets blood flowing to the head and apparently feels good. The wall Celine-san is siblings with RINA's wall? Please send our regards.

What are the artists MAMI spontaneously purchased CDs of after seeing them live? Rina Katahira and MAMI look back on 2016 with music!

Rina Katahira × MAMI's discussions will be broadcasted weekly in January every Sunday from 21:00-22:00 on FM802's talk show 「Walkin' Talkin' -Tsurezure (Tedious) Dialogue-」. The second show was aired on the 8th.

The first topic this time was from MAMI: 「How did you spend your New Year's holiday?」

MAMI was busy with festival after festival at the end of the year. She was at a live venue the moment 2017 began.


This week's theme was 「Looking back at 2016」.


The song MAMI was most interested in in 2016 was Awesome City Club's 「Namida no Shanghai Night」 (A Night of Tears in Shanghai). Music called "city pop" was popular in 2015 and 2016. MAMI felt that flow. Within that flow, WANIMA played an active part; Hi-STANDARD released a surprise. During this turbulent year she thought, 「I'll try to really listen to city pop」 and got completely addicted to Awesome City Club. She feels that it's a genre of music she didn't have within herself.


A song that MAMI has recently been listening to frequently is SABANNAMAN's 「FREAK OUT」. Last year she went to the event HAWAIIAN6, where many hardcore artists appeared, for the first time. She introduced us to songs packed with funk, hardcore, and punk. She told us she was instantly surprised when she thought, 「Ah, I want their CD!」 when seeing them. She passionately spoke of how there are many appealing homages in our favorite music.

One month has already passed this year, hasn't it
My goal has been set for this year,,,
「Don't be shy」
It feels like I say this every year--it feels like I've been saying this every year since SCANDAL formed,
But I'm really going to give it my best this year.
2017 will be about
Having an increase in friends--rather, I want to have an increase in my musician friends.
SCANDAL will be releasing our best album "SCANDAL" next week on 2/15.
It's quite a voluminous work with 36 songs (including new songs).
Also, we'll be going on a 47 prefecture tour in support of our best album.
It'll be our first 47 prefecture tour, so I'd like us watch our health
While eating many delicious things and having fun.

So, the songs I've chosen tonight
Are songs I want to listen to during coffee time.
It's a blissful time for me when I drink coffee.
Taking in the aroma of coffee while listening to a CD,,,
I'll enjoy tomorrow.


1. If I Ain't Got You / Alicia Keys
The first time I heard this was when I was in high school,
But I think it's a very mature, lovely song. It's one I've always been listening to.
I attended a dance & vocal school in Osaka when I was in high school,
And this song was used during lessons. I remember not being able to sing it very well.


2. Love Is Law / Earth, Wind & Fire
I've loved Earth, Wind & Fire since middle school.
This song is on an album released in 2013.
I liked listening to 70s and 80s music when I was in middle school.
I chose it because music you can keep listening to, without it changing even 20 or 30 years later, is wonderful.


3. Change the World / Eric Clapton
I remembered this after choosing this song,
But wasn't this used in a commercial for canned coffee?
That's not why I chose it, but when my mom came over to my place the other day, she brought along a Clapton CD
The audio set in and it felt like I had gone back home.
So, I thought I'd give it a listen.
This is a song I'd listen to in a relaxed mood while drinking coffee.
I chose it because I was strangely addicted to the mood of that time.


4. LOVE ME DO / SCANDAL
This is a song I'd like everyone to listen to when drinking coffee.
But, I'll leave the situation to you.
YELLOW is an album you can listen to at anytime
And is a very colorful album, so I'd be happy
If you'd listen to it at your favorite timing.
