New to football, got interested with it because of Samurai Blue's (Japan National team) performance in the last World Cup and Asian Cup. Here in the Philippines we are more of a basketball oriented country because of the US influence.

Just some question about the rules;

1.) what is off side (I watched FC Barcelona and Arsenal this afternoon, Messi made a goal but it was ruled as off side) mind explaining it?

2.) In basketball if you touch the ball last before it's out of the playing court you're opponent gets possession, is it the same with football?

so a player is in an offside position if he is closer to the opponent's goal line than both the ball and the second-to-last defender (i.e. last outfield player)...but only if the player is on his opponent's half of the pitch...

basically yes. just like any other sport.

also imo football is already gaining popularity here in our country, because of the Azkals, w/c i think is great since in football(even if little)we stand a chance against other countries. XD
