I've seen very little of them in the non-Japanese parts of the internet, and wanted share them around.

The band is called Hump Back, a trio of girls from Osaka. Moeko (guitar/vocal), Pika (bass/backup), and Misaki (drums).

They formed in '09 in Moeko's high school light music club, as far as I can tell, and have had a couple of line-up changes between then and now, with their current line-up coming together in '15. They ran the Indie gambit for a while, singed to a label in '16 and only released their first full album last year (2019).

I really like their sound; very simple, but full of emotion. Almost punk-ish, but not quite as rough. Maybe 90s American alt-rock is a better description? I'm not very good at describing such things.

This is probably my favorite song of theirs so far.

Based on their YT video view count and the amount of concerts they play (based on what I've seen on their Twitter) they seem to doing well domestically. I do hope they get a bigger international following, because I would love to see them live without needing travel half-way across the globe.

I didn't aware there are already a lot of girl bands in Japan.
What extent is the success of Scandal have on the blooming?
Or is that already happening before Scandal.

There are loads of girl bands in Japan because Japanese girls have to learn a musical instrument at school, I wish British schools did that.

SCANDAL have obviously inspired some girls like 'Girlfriend' for example but Shonen Knife started in 1981 and are still active so maybe they inspired SCANDAL

Yes I know Mutant Monster and I also like Band-Maid and Lovebites who are more Metal, just type Japanese girl bands into Youtube, there are loads !

I saw them on that internet live that scandal was on this year, and really liked their energy and the vocals. I only heard one album, but will invest more time definitely!

Yes after SCANDAL shared that concert with them I wanted to hear more of their stuff....they are pretty good !
