SCANDAL NEW ALBUM
"Kiss from the darkness"

Will be released

It's already our 9th album
We've completed something interesting
That we, who didn't think we'd come this far, nor make something like this,
Could not have expected

This is something I personally feel,
But during the time frame we were making this album,
I had a lot of trouble
With my abilities such as the drums and lyrics.

In regards to continuing to create new music
And always crafting energetic live shows,
I once again thought
That it was very important to have a good interaction
With the waves of my heart
And to forgive and recognize others as well as myself

I've been working too hard on one thing
Since the band started when I was a middle schooler
I have a habit of overstraining myself when I'm alone,
And there are parts of me I just can't seem to like
Because I haven't changed

Although I couldn't really turn
Things like sadness and anger
Into music that well,
It seems that all my emotions
As well as humanity, temperature, and smell
Were finally born in sound as well

"Kiss from the darkness"
To translate that literally into Japanese would be "暗闇からのキス" (Kurayami kara no kisu)

When you translate that into SCANDAL's style, it would be
"Whatever happens, it'll be okay. Whatever will be, will be"
We included those emotions into it.

It is an album
Where we went beyond the rules that were made unknowingly,
And where we faced music and ourselves
In more ways than ever before
We made it with no holds barred.

It's the first album
That will be released via our precious secret base,
Our private record label "her"
Please look forward to it!

Since we've made a great album,
We'll be delivering it worldwide again!

A lot of sincerity and emotion in this message from Rina. I have the impression that the members of the group have experienced difficulties both professionally and in their private lives in recent years.

They must be proud to have created their own label and to release this new album, it is the reward of all their efforts, a well deserved success.

Scandal is an inspiration to us all...
to live better,
to love better,
to BE better than we believe we can be.

They are not just a rock band, but so much more.

Lot of interesting stuff in that blog post. It definitely feels like being away from Sony is allowing them to be more honest. This line is particularly interesting to me:

There's a lot that's implied in that sentence. But the main thing for me as a fan is that it sounds like there is going to be a lot that's different on this album. So far the songs we've heard haven't been *too* much different than what they've done in the past. So I'm wondering just how different the rest of the album actually is; maybe those four songs were intentional singles and the rest of the album is very experimental, or maybe it's all more similar to their other stuff than she's leading on.

It sounds like the lyrics will be a lot more personal and emotional, which just makes me wish I could understand Japanese better. But I'm sure there will be translations and I will definitely read those this time. (I haven't always in the past.)
