Indie ArtistCount on me for basketball stories.
Favorite team? None really, I just follow players. For some reason I cant stand by one specific team in this sport like I do others. Though if I had to pick specific teams Id follow, it would be:
US: Minnesota Timbertrolls
Spain : Blusens Monbus
Russia: CSKA
Israel: Maccabi Tel Aviv
Argentina: Obras Sanitarias
France: Cholet
Mexico: Halcones Xalapa
Thats it.

Yeah, I started following them when they got TD at no. 1 back in '97. But my favorite player of the Big Three is Manu...

This was huge sports news but was kind of buried in the background w/ all the college football games and WS game 3 all going on. It was kind of funny, I thought Jeremy Lin was part of the trade when it was announced during the ND/OU game. It was really Jeremy LAMB...

Caless StudentSam Presti made it clear to Harden and his agent that he, Harden, wasn't going to get the max deal he was looking for. Presti and OKC didn't want to go into the luxury tax zone. The thing of it is is this. It was about $2 million dollars or so. Sure, a lot of money for most of us but in terms of NBA star contracts, it was a pittance. Additionally, windows for championships for teams are, to no surprise, small. OKC had the makings of a championship team w/ their core three. Sure, Harden shot like shit in the finals but he's young. There was still time for OKC to get it all together. Some are questioning Presti and OKC for not paying the luxury tax if it better enables them to get some Larry O trophies.
Conversely, it speaks of Harden to a degree. That he's all about the money. Because of $2 million dollars, he traded in future final appearances for what in Houston? Interesting times in the NBA...

Caless StudentWe're about a quarter the way through the NBA season and, for the most part, the usual suspects are atop their respective divisions. A couple of surprises. One, the NY Knicks are leading the east right now. Dumping J-Lin and picking up Ray Felton (as well as Sheed and having Amare on the DL) is, so far, paying off. Two, the LA Lakers are, absolutely, sucking eggs right now (and I'm loving every minute of it as a Spurs fan)...

Most surprising team this year all things considered is the Golden State Warriors, and Mark Jackson gets most of the credit for leading the team to a current 5th seed in the western conference.
Lakers look very inconsistent and even in their wins they struggle. Pau Gasol couldnt be more important to this team right now. After this, not much has changed in the league. The Bobcats went back to being the LOLcats. OKC looks like the best team in the regular season, Orlando looks to be holding their own despite the loss of Dwight, and New York along with the Clippersmight be the new faces of elite teams in the NBA.
