Hello basketball fans!
Let's post about the nations we support, our insights and even results.
I'm from the Philippines, so I easily support Team Gilas (nickname for our national team, like Dream Team is for the USA). Gilas is lead by Jimmy Alapag, Marc Pringris, LA Tenorio, and naturalized former Brooklyn Net Andray Blatche. They are well-known for being undersized yet tenacious.
However, the chances of Philippines beating basketball heavyweights such as USA, Spain, France and Brazil is too little to none. We even barely qualified because we beat Korea by a wide margin at last year's FIBA Asia Championship. But who knows?.
As for the other teams, I'd like USA to win the championship.
As of August 30, Philippines was narrowly beaten by European powerhouse Croatia via overtime on their first game in the Elimination round. Final score was 81-78.
