I was spending some time watching some random girls J-rock videos on youtube, and I remembered something I had noticed, and I wondered how many other people had noticed the same.

There are a lot of relatively young and highly talented female rock/metal bassists coming out of Japan right now.

Tomomi (of course) from Scandal
Misa from Band-Maid
Koga from Gacharic Spin/Doll$Box
??? from Girls Rock Band Revolution (can't find her name)
Akari from Chu's Day
Be from Mutant Monster
Nohana from Stereopony/Draft King

I'm sure there are others, of course.

So, are there any female bassists out there that you really admire?

I'm gonna add: Cathy from Choco (Hong Kong Band)

But I think the only female bassist I really admire is Tomomi, even though I'm a fan of about everyone on that list^

SHIZUKA (Chelsy)

Not really sure if there's one I admire more than the others though . . . Granted I will say Shiori is how I noticed the Japanese female bassist trend as she is the only female in her band.

I will say Doris the leader of Chthonic (Taiwan). Chthonic is pretty well know in Japan's metal music scene. They were invited to play in all the metal music festivals in Europe last year!

Yeah, I saw their Scandal Baby cover, though I prefer their originals.

The bassist I grew up listening to is Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver. He's a punk rock bassist but he can make the bass sing.
