Nope; Nagano (長野) is the prefecture they were in, but it says Zenko-ji (善光寺), which is a well-known Buddhist temple located in Nagano, on the hats.

It is fairly popular in the Southeastern part of the USA. Since there aren't really any predators left in the region (wolves, cougars, etc.), the only way to control whitetail deer populations is through hunting. In deer season, people who are into hunting will get typically between 1-3 "tags" to bring in one deer per tag, depending on the deer population, though I assume that can vary. A single hunter can bring in literally hundreds of pounds of venison in a single season. I know a lot of guys will have the deer processed to freeze for personal use, but there is really too much even from a single deer. So, lots of people sell the meat to restaurants or even donate it to food-kitchens that feed homeless or destitute people.

I've never actually been deer hunting myself, but it's a pretty big thing in the area I grew up, so it's hard not to know something about it.

If Haru, et al., visit Atlanta, I'm sure they could find some venison to try. Or, maybe some wild boar.

When Haruna said that she ate deer steak, I was hoping that she'd post a picture of how it looked....(^_^; )

I've had deer jerky and deer burgers too, if I remember correctly, but never steak yet, so it's something to look forward to....
