I was listening to Harry Connick Jr's album "Star Turtle" in the car on the way to work this morning, and wanted to share one of the tracks.  This tune reminds me if Herbie Hancock were to jam with WAR.  It's a terrific album overall to check out.  Enjoy.

This is one of the best Filipino songs in mid 2000s. Good thing it's in English. I heard of this once or twice when I was a kid on the radio.

Stay from Cueshe is definitely not one of the best songs that era basically it's just a rip off of "the greatest view" by silverchair

I think Franco is one of the best rock bands in our country right now. Rock genre is mostly underground now in the Philippines as it is dominated by pop songs

Last night The Smithereens' singer and leader Pat DiNizio past away after a couple years of health issues.  They are from my home state of New Jersey, and I saw them perform live many times-- always fun and very good.  I got to see them one last time earlier this year in Los Angeles at The Whiskey A Go-Go, which I am now very grateful.  Sadly the The Smithereens never got as big as they should have been, but for nearly 40 years they put out an infectious catalogue of 60's inspired power pop that should not be neglected. 

"Especially For You" is not only one of my favorite all-time albums, but it's one of the best debut records of all time.  Every song could have been released as a single.  If you like the following tune, I highly recommend picking up a copy or streaming it along with some of the other albums.  Enjoy.  BTW, it is a goofy-looking video from the mid-80s.
