I've recently started to watch this series which is made by the same comic book writer who wrote Yu yu hakusho. I havn't started to read the manga yet but I've been watching the anime. I can say that I really like this series.. Not to crtize Yu yu hakusho. I thought it was a great series also but this I find to be more intruging than Yu yu hakusho.

It's a nice anime with a lot of great twists...You'll definetely love the characters and their different abilities

well the manga is on hiatus for almost more than 2 month 
i've stop reading the manga and want to watch the anime... well after several chapter of manga, the environtment and character draw seem tobe changed, it's really weird drawing... ugh... and i cant understand the story after the greed island incident... huff... well the story from beginning, hunter exam, into the greed island seem the best and really nice story...

Earlier we heard news of a new Hunter x Hunter anime series that was supposed to air this fall season and now it has been confirmed that it will be a totally new adaptation from the manga series and everything will be retold right from the beginning. The new series is scheduled to air on NTV on 02 Oct 2011, 10:55am on Sundays.
The new series is being produced by Madhouse Studios and it will feature a brand new cast and staff. The series is being directed by Kohjina Hiroshi and the characters design are done by Yoshimatsu Takahiro.

A great news indeed! For those who love Hunter X Hunter, this is a must watch! I myself couldn't wait! The manga is now on serialization again with its latest arc(the chimera arch).
EDIT: The chimera arc has already been finished and the current arc is just super exciting!

Chimera arc chapter is truly bada$$ and devastating. full of twist and action. hope the manga series will continue. I think on anime they will stop on Chimera Arc until they have sufficient chapters on Manga.
