1. 5cm per second (This anime has some of the best animation, if not the best, I've ever seen. Watch this alone at night so you can appreciate the artwork and the emotions displayed through the breathtaking landscapes.)
2. Spirited Away (it won an Oscar!!)
3. The Castle of Cagliostro (perfect anime movie to watch with family and friends)

Honorable mentions:
Spice and Wolf (a very original story with a wonderful soundtrack)
Madoka Magica (don't judge this anime by its cover, I mean it!)
Attack on Titan (Titans!)
Psycho-Pass (reminiscent of Orwell's 1984, this anime made me think a lot; good if you like brainy content)
Steins; Gate (this show taught me not to mess with the laws of physics)
