I don't know if there was ever a topic like this before here or not, but do people here listen to indie music??
Just curious. But I would like it if there were people who do.

Indie Bands [Page 1 of 2]
OH MY GOD SOMEONE REPLIED. .love. Hahahaha.Miss J wrote:I do. but is it too mainstream to say that I listen to indie music? lol
my taste in music maybe a bit hipster, but i'm not.
No, we're not comparing. I mean, maybe.. Fine, yes.Miss J wrote:are we comparing notes now? haha... well there are a lot. but in any given day, i'd go with my top favorites:
pains of being pure at heart, bombay bicycle club, of montreal, grouplove, chvrches, goldfrapp, kooks, the drums, joy formidable, and metric
I pretty much listen to most kinds of music, I don't really mind mainstream music (I'm a Justin Timberlake fan), it just irritates me when it's overplayed.Miss J wrote:hm.. i like to keep myself updated. but sometimes it's too much, considering that indie bands are popping out like daisies. but i do keep my favorites. chvrches i liked recently lang. like last month i think, i heard recover and i was hooked. general rule is, i don't like hearing my favorites on the radio. i don't know how to explain the emotion i feel when they start playing some of my favorites on jam 88.3 -- though jam is a good station for me.
wait, oh my God i forgot to mention vampire weekend (maybe because they play it on the radio these days) and local i like she's only sixteen
what about you?
Listen to Kay Kay! Recommended if you like The Beatles (or so they say)Miss J wrote:same here! im not really into one kind of genre, i listen to a gamut of music. like, im a fan of tony bennett but i'm also deeply in love with ellie goulding.
as for your list, i only know local natives. ikaw na ang hipster haha. used to like passion pit, i still kind of like them... pero yea as you said it's played na sa malls. so i kind of lost interest.
Oh wow, the way she plays those drums is frantic and energetic. Clearly outshines the other instruments. I like it. Thanks.Miss J wrote:oh, here's another one i was totally in love with.. but they're not active anymore. i think they're already disbanded. but as far as girl bands are concerned, they're noteworthy indeed.
I can definitely see why. Hahaha.Miss J wrote:yea sad some of the good ones doesnt last long eh. and yea! crazy drummer girl. i think i saw one comment say that she can light up a city with her drumming haha
I'm not a fan of MGMT.. Haha. To me they're like, you know them for, "THAT ONE SONG."Miss J wrote:really they were here? and no, i dont know them. but they sound a bit like MGMT-ish to me.. which is not a bad thing. one band that was here that i totally regret not seeing were these guys. they were here march i think. entrance was just 2k but timing is a bish i didnt have enough to see them that time
Rinshei wrote:guys, i do listen indie music, anyone listening japanese indie music ?.hmmm.
I listen to Japanese indie I guess? Bands like Toe, or Mouse on the Keys, which I find weird that they went here in my country before SCANDAL. Haha. Also, Tenniscoats is a very cool band if you want to relax, or if you want to be calm.Hawaii fan wrote:yeah. Japanese Indie music is good in my opinion. well for certain genres at least for me. i'm listening to a lot of Japanese Indie rock bands. some of them is MY FIRST STORY, their pretty good in my opinion.
another one i would suggest is Another Story. they came to america sometime ago and they were good.
Black Keys aren't really indie anymore (from my perspective..) and as for the others, those are good choices! Some I don't know so I'll try to find more of those later.Yuffie wrote:Hello!^_^
