ALiCE IN UNDERGROUND is composed of AIMI, former vocalist ofSTEREOPONY, and Hiroki Arai who first gained notice as guitarist and songwriter of serial TV drama.
The duo will begin infecting the airwaves with their blood pumping sound via a one man live in Tokyo on August 17 dubbed "episode 1: infection".

Heard some samples today and I like it. I'm so glad Aimi is back because draft king is terrible. Hiroki is not bad on guitar either. I never heard of him until this. You can order two singles by AiU now although they don't ship until dec 24.

I don't think Draft King is all that bad. I just fear they don't have the right lead singer....

Yea I agee Saldiven. Nohana is an amazing bassist and Shino is a tight drummer but Mao or whatever her name is doesn't have the punch of Aimi. Those deep bends by Hiroki are super sweet along with Aimi .love.

Mao's actually the guitarist. Mao was the studio/backup guitarist for Stereopony, too. You can see her playing in the video for Stand By Me. The lead singer goes by the name "Erica." She's not a bad singer at all, but I don't think she really quite fits with the rest of the band.

Oh, and BTW, I love Nohana on the bass. I think she's great.

Oh I see now .uhuh. . You can see her off the light in the Stereopony's final live too. The singer is not bad but clashes with Nohana in my opinion. I was seriously considering ordering both AiU singles but at Christmas? (which I hate).

Speaking of Mao, I'm really glad she's growing her hair out longer. She's so very thin and has such angular features that the really short haircut made her look kind of masculine. The longer hair makes her features look a little softer and is a better look for her, I think.

very much agreed. I love me some long hair. What do you think of the "light" heavy metal sound of AiU? Is this inspired by babymetal maybe?

I've only listened to a bit of one song for AiU so far, so haven't really made up my mind. I'll try to listen to more tonight.

Though, Babymetal does seem to be inspiring some imitators lately.

I can see why. Babymetal is Everywhere and it's ok but I want to see a real group adapt it to their stuff not as a gimmick. Metal would probably be my favorite genre and I prefer a good female singer so this trend is great. Anyone know of a good band similar in sound to AiU?

They're not quite like AiU, but have you listened to High and Might Color? I'm pretty sure they're broken up now, but I really liked their lead singer.

Color is good. I found them about 8 months ago. Why are good bands breaking up as soon as I can find them.

Haha. Depressing, isn't it. I discovered Utada Hikaru about two years before she went on hiatus, and she hasn't released anything new (except for one song for an anime) since then, four years ago.

Ahhh  At least we still have anime. (Did they stop releasing episodes of ......... half way through) .fustrated. Only reason I hate Japan lol

The lead solo on Stereopony's Okami reminds me of Hiroki, though it doesn't look like him in the music video. AIMI kinda stopped playing guitar on the last singles. Okami has two guitar players on it and AIMI is not one of them.

Aimi probably could not keep up and sing. Her skill level is close to what mine is but I have only been playing for a little over a year. Stereopony is easy but Hiroki is a beast with the technical skills. Thanks for the vines Shirokun. I had no idea. Still haven't ordered my singles but its close. BTW is anyone else having problems finding samples? I watched the youtube ones like 15 times each.

They like to tease that's for sure. I'd like to get the single as well~
