I love the idea of there being a bass day. Bass is the foundation of every band. 

Who here can play bass and what do they like about it? I can't really play bass, I pick it like a guitar.

Wish I could! In the garage band I play in we have a great drummer and bass player. They make up for my guitar skills. A good bass player is so important. Someone on the forum said Tomomi was SCANDAL's secret weapon. That's true, although I think they know that!

1964, you must have heard many great English bass players over the years. I like Trevor Bolder, Steve Priest and Steve Currie ... love the glam.

Yes indeed, my favourite British bass player was John Symon Asher 'Jack' Bruce 1943- 2014.
He played in many British bands but is best known when he was in the Super group 'Cream' with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker.
I knew him well in the 1960's when he was in the 'Graham Bond Organisation'.

I heard on the radio yesterday morning that it was a Bass Day and they're asking who's your favorite Bassist. I never knew there's such a day like that. Is it only here in Japan?

Yes indeed he was and Jack & Ginger Baker were both in the Graham Bond Organisation where they used to fight all the time !
And Eric Clapton was in John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers when I first saw him, go in any club toilet in the 60's and it had "Clapton is God" on the walls

Sadly Jack spent most of his money on drugs and ruined his health.

Yes, it's a Japan based thing. It's a great idea, I wish it were worldwide. The biggest and oldest U.S. bass magazine, Bass Player, makes no mention of it in print or online (and I emailed the editor in chief, too, to suggest it). Ironically they hold a big bass player event every year called Bass Player Live and this year it was on November 4 and 5th in LA. So close to 11/11. One of Tomomi's inspiration's, Flea, was there and got a lifetime achievement award. I think some of the U.S. guitar magazines have too much focus on established artists. You are certainly never too old to make good music and a fresh contribution to the arts, but it would be nice if they featured some younger up and coming talent --- like Tomomi!

So is there a day for the other three?

Well. I guess no. I do some reading and it turns out it's a bass day simply because November 11 or 1111 look like, well, a bass guitar, with its four strings. Lol.

I think thre's no date in a year that would look like a guitar and a drum so..

thank god.... I'm not too old for hearing some "cream" songs.....

I Think many young people doesn't hear that kind of music anymore

and congratulations for all of the bass player, you make a better sound than we used to hear at the music nowadays who are using digital bass sound like many songs in Electronic Dance Music nowadays.

Kinda off topic but I saw the Cream reunion gig at the Royal Albert Hall 12 years ago. Mindblowing!
