Err, it depends on what you mean.
I know for most, people connect to the servers that battle.net provide. Search a dota game there and join it/play.
Or do you mean something like Garena?
Dota is very different (server wise, search wise, and pretty much everything wise) from HoN because it's an extension (custom map) for Warcraft 3.

i rarely play in Garena..because Indonesia have own server on Battle.Net..
but if you want to play in Garena. Download Garena first, create an ID and then join one of the server there..Garena have Singapore Server, Indonesia Server, Philipines Server, etc. XD

Oh I see, I was just wondering because like I used to do back in Peru, was just play on pirated servers and they had their own Battle.net-ish. I guess the only thing to download is GG and then start playing! xd thanks for the replies

You should try to have a Garena account. With there, you can play with different people through different servers. Never tried a using Battle.net with DotA. But I tried one when I participated and played Starcraft.

Can one join the Indo server from any other country that is not Indo?

Well, i already paid for the original game, do I have to pay just to use the Indo server? If so then I wont be joinin lol.

Not sure about this one, but when you connect to battle.net, you choose a server.
NA East, NA West, Europe, and Asia.
If the one Alice is talking about isn't there, you'll have to purchase a WC3 set from Indonesia.
