This was Lale's idea. The first plan was to do a collab of scandal baby and the line-up was: tsun(lead), lale(rythm), me(bass) & karinu(drums). But due to Karinu being busy in school and Lale moving to California this project was put on hold.
Now earlier I mentioned it on SB and everyone seems excited about it so I think I'll give you some ideas on how to do it incase anyone of you decides to do a collab with each other or even better form a SCANDAL Heaven SCANDAL tribute virtual band!
How are we going to do it?
There are two ways; record the audio only and do the mixing later[of course the outcome of this one is a mp3] OR record a vid of you playing(of course with audio) put it together thru some software that supports splitscreens.(IMPORTANT: The idea here is to record your instrument's sound alone, but you can use an mp3 player as your reference when you play)
How are we going to record?
This bit is a bit complicated so bare with me.
So the general outline is:
guitar/bass/drums/vox------------------>audio interface-------------------->PC
What is an audio interface?
It's a device where you can plug any instuments or mics that will/can convert those signals to digital and send it to your PC thru USB.
You don't have an audio interface?
Don't worry, you can always use your PC's mic socket. (Though I don't recommend doing this very often as it may damage your PC's sound card after a long-term use.)
So we dissect the process....
Recording with an audio interface:
guitar/bass------------------->amp with line-out or headphone socket-----[line-out/headphone]--------->audio interface-------------->PC
acoustic drums---------------->multiple mics/ single mic-------------------->audio interface--------------->PC
electric drums(actually, you dont need an interface for this)--------------->USB cable--------------------->PC
vox----------------->mic------------------>audio interface-------------->PC
Now if you don't have an audio interface:
guitar/bass------------------->amp------------->mic(put your mic directly in front of your amp)---------------->PC(thru PC's mic socket)
acoustic drums---------------->mic-------------->PC(thru PC's mic socket)
electric drums(actually, you dont need an interface for this)--------------->USB cable--------------------->PC
vox-------------->mic-------------->PC(thru PC's mic socket)
How can you hear what you're playing or how can you play along with the song?
In most audio interfaces, they have a headphone sockets and you can set them as your default playback device.(If you have an interface, just read the manual, everything is in there.)
If you don't have an interface, what you can do is use an mp3 player and use it as your reference where you can play along.
Now that you recorded your part, what are you going to do?
We'll have to decide who's going to do the audio/video editing, then upload your part on some file sharing site such as mediafire or megaupload etc etc or better yet get the MSN/YM/SKYPE of that person who's going to edit it and send it thru there.
What will the editing person do?
Sync the the audios and videos.(I'll leave this to anyone who knows how to do it)
And that's it, we are done!!
For video recording softwares, usually your webcam comes with some sort of video recording software or if you don't have one you can try Debut Recording Software(just google it), or just search the web for some.[Suggestions are welcome]
For audio recording softwares, you can use audacity, adobe, etc etc. (There are loads out there)
Now that I have explained everything (any questions or clarifications just post here or pm me), we are going to decide who's who or what's what.
If you want to do a collab, you can either pm each other or post on this thread or whatever. xD Like say, "I wish to collab with someone and do shunkan sentimental acoustic version, I play rythm guitar, anyone wants to be the lead or bass?"
And of course after you've done your collab post it on youtube or facebook or vimeo or dailymotion weather it's only an mp3 or a splitscreen and share it here on SH(that's the main idea).
NOTE THAT THIS IS JUST FOR FUN. WE ARE NOT DOING THIS FOR ANY KIND OF PROFIT.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I'll be first to volunteer, if you need a bassist or a rythm guitarist just contact me as I'm willing to work with anyone
