.happy. Eiyo!!!

I need your guidance... I'm so inspired to learn playing musical instruments; thankz to SCANDAL...
You know the feeling of drooling watching them play and wishing to feel the "rush" onstage playing rock songs like them...
I want to experience that myself; the SCANDAL experience!!! .wow.

I've been asking tips and advices from people on what e.guitar to buy... One told me, to make it easier for me to find a prospect buy, I'll just research what instruments my idol uses: SCANDAL - MAMI!!!

At first I thought of a Fender HSS Stratocaster with Locking Tremolo but... .wtf. It's so EXPENSIVE!

Tsunvun said he uses Squier Strat in his Shunkan Sentimental tutorial (one of my fav songs) which is cheaper but yet can totally play so I thought .evilgrin. "Excellent!" <ala Mr. Burns>

.wow. I found this: Squier Bullet®️ Strat®️ with Tremolo Fiesta Red
link here: Squier Bullet Strat Product Profile
It's indeed cheaper: 199.99USD = 9,264.69PHP! LOVE
But is it ideal for a beginner like me? Can it play a similar sound to SCANDAL's sounds? Plz tell! .please.

Can it play a similar sound to SCANDAL's sounds? Plz tell!
well..if you have an amp well that's ok...i think =Dp i'm no expert in sounds and things like that too, but my cousins are musicians,so i know a thing or two =Dp

When it comes to sound, there are many things to consider; amp, effects, pickups, wood for the body and etc and etc.

Don't concentrate on a specific tone yet as you may get confused with it. As long as you have a decent 10-15watt amp with overdrive or distortion to pratice with, and you're comfortable with the guitar, that should be fine.

Your choice of Squier Bullet Strat is good. You could also try the entry levels of Yamaha, Ibanez or Washburn if you dont mind having a diff body type from the stratocaster. They sound quiet nice too. I myself have a Washburn for more than 5 years now and I'm still loving the sound of it.

try looking at these..they're squier value packs...
the 1st one has the same price as your squier bullet...but these already have amps and other things included...if you don't like squier then..guitarcenter also has ibanez, yamaha, peavey, epiphone etc... value packs that you can choose...

hope this helps .sweat.

.please. Sumimasen, mc-san! Actually na-confuse ako where to post it... I first checked the 'Members Discussion' and found only 'hot seat' and 'tech'-something discussion. Didn't look lower... I'll be more careful next time.

Hm~ Yeah, I checked the value packs... But found some disturbing reviews... .omg. Most of them don't last... That should be expected for being cheap... But I wish something that could last longer... I might not be able to buy a guitar like for another 5 years... Huhuhu~ I'm so confused...

Anyone can give me a review of this:

^the amp doesn't have an overdrive(i think...not sure...) i think you might want to have an amp that has overdrive Happy

really..well i didn't know that xD, for i know, guitarcenter sells blemished and brand new guitars... Thinking well it is a squier, and i don't think it's a fake one either xD..well with proper caring and maintenance, i don't think that guitar will fall apart quickly xD

anyway, do you have a philmusic account? that site helps a lot when it comes to choosing guitars and stuff like that...

or better yet.....
why don't you try other brands? i do find ibanez good xD...

.uhuh. Yes. It's Squier. It's just that... It is cheap and well, that's what you get for a package so cheap... .wew. But I guess with care indeed, it would last...

philmusic? Okie, I'll go check that place out! Thankz for the tip. .clap.

To be honest, everyone... I don't know how to play a guitar.. No, nada... BUT I want to learn! .hora. I want to be like Yui of K-On, I guess... Who was a complete newb but started learning with an electric guitar... That's why I'm hoping to get a great beginner guitar worth my money (though it's not that great money .whiteflag. as long as it's worth it) so that it'd be more easier for me to learn....

It's too good to be true for me, ne? .boom.
Hope not.... So please bear with the ambitious frustrated beginner... .shy.

Nice one @D3nise
Heehee~ Good for you... No.. I mean, good for us!

@vincendadiaz
Gomen... I haven't used any of those... Maybe you can recommend?

@natchi & kiera917
Les Paul? Is that another brand like Fender?
What about Washburn? What do you think? I have checked stores already... Too bad, can't really try them cause I don't know how... I'm still looking for a guitar pro companion tho... Also, I'm doin research cuz store people don't tell you the 'cons' of the guitar, usually only the 'pros'...

i pretty much had the same story and , i started out with a yamaha pacifica 012 (my second instrument woohoo!! -- got it about 5 months ago ) and honestly i'm really happy with the sound quality and it wasn't heavy on the pocket either.
but i suppose in the end it comes down to the type of amp you have .ehem.

In your opinion, is it better than Squier Strat (like Bullet Strat)???

.toj. - very glad that someone has the same story -

So how long did it take you to at least reach the basic level of playing???

Hey flaming, I'm a beginner from the philippines too. recently I just bought a 54 k fender standard stratocaster. It rocks!!! but for a beginner, i wouldn't recommend its price range. you should just settle with the squier, that's my rccomendation... or, if you're a flat out beginner, i suggest you start with an acoustic first. this is only my opinion of course.

well , like i said, it is my second instrument . i started off with the piano (and completed till the 8th grade of ABRSM level ) so i find it pretty easy to read sheet music and stuff so i picked it up fairly quickly. I had always wanted to learn the guitar anyway (later on .. k-on! and girl bands did add to it eg. SCANDAL .wow. )

Initially before the e-guitar i learnt on an acoustic though .... i agree with Paupipau but i feel having an e-guitar just makes you want to play it ; irrespective if you have a MAJOR final the next day (that's how i feel anyway ) .love.

personally i feel it is better than a strat since i had read quite a few bad reviews on them but i guess you don't know till you get our hands on one , in this case i suggest you take a friend(who has had experience with e-guitars) along with you to a music store to help you choose.
in my opinion - i think you should get the yamaha -- you can't go wrong with it Nice one

oh yeah check out the guitar reviews on ultimate guitar too -- they might help you make a decision .uhuh.

hmm... i was curious about the differences between the 012 and the 112 -- only diffence is in the body ; made of agathis/nato and alder respectively

I have a Yamaha Pacifica as well!! Not sure what type of pacifica though (knows nothing about guitars). Bought it used like 4 or 5 years ago and it still works and sounds great at least from what I can tell haha.

Even though I've owned it that long I still suck~ no dedication in me whatsoever so don't ask me for too much advice Tongue.

If you're a beginner avoid the lock tremelo systems like the plague. I've been playing for 5 years and did guitar set up stuff while doing music at college and I still can't seem to get them right. They are really hard to set up and only the best of them stay set up for prolonged periods of time.

I always recommend Telecasters to beginners as they are flexible and just an overall solid choice (also I love Fender Wink ). I really rate the current Squier classic vibe and vintage modified range. I have a real Fender guitar and there isn't much difference and I would have no qualms about picking one up. For your first guitar I would look into a telecaster in one of those two ranges. If you're going to buy an amp to go with it and you're on a budget then peavey do good stuff in all price ranges and the vox valvetronix offers decent value for money too.

My advice is, go try em at a local store. Theres tons of different guitar combinations with amps and effects, just get the one that sounds good for you, if you like it then its worth its money.

I've never been big on les pauls, mainly because Gibson quality control flucuates like mad, some you get are nice, some are horrible. Also they are expensive, you can get a decent tokai one though reasonably cheaply if that's the kind of guitar you're after (and tokai do good stuff).

.wtf. WHOOH! So many replies!!! .hora. YEAH! I LOVE this forum! Sankyuu very much!

.sweat. @paupipau
Yah.. I SO can't afford that yet, Fender strat... BUT someday I will. 'Til then... I'll buy a low-end 1st.

.wow. @chopstickattack
OH MY! I'm learning piano too! It's my first instrument... But I'm still a mere grade 1 [I always stopped but now I'll finish it even without a teacher].. Good thing! I'm learning reading sheets instead of going 'widow'; so it DOES help! Thankz for the info.
I guess paupipau is right but I really want an e.guitar... I can only buy once now... And I don't think I'll be able to buy next time so I'll take the shot now!
Yah! I'm thinking of getting Yamaha Pacifica 112J; so many positive reviews compared to Squier... Yah! Already did. I'm a super-checker too!

.love. @Jpndarknight
Now, I'm falling MORE in love; thanks to your positive review!
Anyone with negative reviews for Yamaha Pacifica esp. 112J??? -looking @ the crowd-

.scared. @SanshinOfStirling
Oh dear! Lock tremolo? Okay, I'll keep that in mind. What's 'plague'? A guitar model?
Telecaster? Hmm~ Maybe when I can finally afford Fender's price range, I'll decide then... For now, I'll dream....

.uhuh. @Lale
Okay.. I'll go find a pro to accompany me. -go chase out random guitarist-

.smile. @Natchi
Soo ka!? Man! That's cool! But oh well.... Hm~ Squier....

@SanshinOfStirling

What's a 'tokai'? Really? Gibson? So it's like Washburn... I saw a Washburn in a store here in affordable price... Almost fell in love but I researched and got quite negative reviews... -downcast eyes-

The plague is a disease. Sorry I was just using it as a simile.

Tokai is a Japanese guitar make that almost took down the bigger companies in the 80s because they were producing high quality similar guitar models to fender and gibson but at a lower price. They are very good and can be a cheaper alternative to the bigger makes while still being good instruments.

The telecasters I was talking about are a fender design, made by squier (a fender sister company). They are cheaper than fender instruments but some these particular models are both very good (I played them both recently at my local instrument shop). These are the two that I played.

http://www.squierguitars.com/products/search.php?partno=0303025507

I would recommend them both.
