Music Natalie - HARUNA's "Top 3 in 2023"
"We were able to leave a record that is unique to only us"
There are only a few days left in 2023. Music Natalie is holding a year-end project called "Top 3 in 2023," in which various artists introduce three topics that were memorable for them this year. In this ninth installment, we asked HARUNA of SCANDAL, who celebrated their 17th anniversary and established the Guinness World Record for "Longest running rock band with the same musicians (female)," to look back on 2023.#1: Celebration! 17th anniversary of formation
From their 17th anniversary concert "Sekai Ichi," which marked the moment their Guinness World Record was established.
This summer we celebrated our 17th anniversary. We were able to leave a record that we are the only all-girl band in the world that has continued for over 17 years with no member changes and no hiatuses. This was a day we praised ourselves once again for our hard work, and were thankful for many things.#2: Playing live in Brazil
SCANDAL performed at "ANIME FRIENDS 2023" in São Paulo, Brazil.
We've toured the USA, Europe, Asia, and many other countries during our career, but this year we were able to perform in Brazil for the first time. We also had a chance to meet local fans, and we were very moved as some of them told us with tears in their eyes, "I've been waiting for over 10 years!" The excitement during the concert was also awesome!#3: Our first signing events
From the signing events to celebrate the release of single Line of sight.
This year we held signing events for the first time at our CD release events! It was a heart-warming time to hear so many happy words from everyone who came, including their impressions of our concerts and how they fell in love with the band. I feel like our bond has grown even stronger over the past year where we had many chances to meet with everyone outside of concerts!Looking back on 2023
In 2023, we celebrated our 17th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of our debut, so I think it was a year in which we looked back on our history and thought more about our future than ever before. I'm very happy we made some good songs and played good concerts. We'll do our best to have our music reach even more people next year.
