Hi All
My first post after lurking for the last 6 months... just hadn't got around to doing the polite thing.
I'm Miles, and I live in the UK. My login as 'TeaMax' comes from my addiction to Tea, and previous ownership of a Yamaha T-Max 500... my Japanese transportation now is Hiroshima's finest - a Mazda MX-5.
I've been interested in Japanese culture for a while, starting back in the early 1990's with the introduction of translated Manga to the UK, but I've never really got into the music before.
I discovered Scandal by accident whilst 'surfing' on YouTube in September 2020; I was stuck in a hotel room working away from home, and my wife and I were sharing YouTube suggestions. I started with Steve Wilson (most of you will say "Who?"), and ended up with Scandal!
I can't remember what I was watching previously (I think it was Russian?), but the suggestions in the bar down the side included ShujoS, and after then linking to Shukan Sentimental and Pinheel Surfer, I was hooked.
Since then I have become a serious fan - given the limitations of not speaking Japanese, and now own CDs of all their studio albums, as well as Encore Show and 'Scandal' (the 10 year anniversary 'best of)... some of these are available in the UK, but for the early albums is was Ebay and importing, with at least a couple coming all the way from Japan.
I'm a big fan of all sorts of music, having grown up with ABBA and ELO on the radio in the 1970's (showing my age here), then discovering Prog Rock and Space Rock. For me Scandal are very different to the rest of my music collection - I just love the fact that they are FUN and never fail to put a smile on my face. On their videos it's obvious that they are having so much fun, and it's infectious...
Kudos to the guys and gals who run this site, and all of the epic translating that goes on.
