Weird how they announced the album tour before the actual album lol. I'm excited , well mostly for the new album. Based on the tour starting date it seems like the album may be released in February.

@reilchii they only had 2 singles in the last album Yellow in 2016, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise for them to go that route again.

You do not need to join in order to get a ticket. You can get tickets via their LINE and homepage pre-sales.

I am awestruck by the creatively fruitful whirlwind the ladies are in. Not only are they putting out quantity but quality as well. They also are rocking hard, which seemed to be in some doubt(not by me) with the release of Yellow. I'm glad they are trusting their muses and pleasing no one but themselves. If their hearts are in what they do, then I'll join them on the journey. Looking forward to the new album!

So, since they have a new album coming out this spring I wondered what we might do to help them and raise their profile outside Japan. Since SH is an international fan club it occurred to me members might be willing to write/email journalists/bloggers who might be willing to write an article or review. Yes, in some cases those writers have to 1) like SCANDAL 2) be able to pitch an editor on an article, but I figured it can't hurt to ask. And of course you can lobby any of the many "react" YouTubers.

I've reached out to some writers at Pitchfork and the Alternative Press sharing why I think SCANDAL would make a good feature and providing a link to a video example. Those magazines/sites are big for U.S. based music lovers, other countries have their own examples. I just went on the sites, found a reviewer I liked based on their writing and then dug up their email (it's often there, they want to hear from people who read their work). I wrote the music editor of the New York Times just for fun, but that's not likely to go anywhere! If anyone wants, I'll share who I wrote to. Oh, and since they have the Fender Japan deal I reached out to the head of Fender USA public relations asking if she'd be willing to reach out on their behalf stateside. She said she'd see what she could do.

I've also added a review or two of their albums at Discogs and AllMusic just so there's something there if a new listener goes there, but anyone can do that if they want.

Does scandal always have a merchandise sale before the concert?  Or was that a special thing because it was an arena tour (when we went in 2015).

We will be in Japan during some of these concerts, just working to plan a reshuffle of time in Japan to fit a concert.

They always have them before a show. Sales usually start at least 2 hours before doors.

We're going to be in Kanazawa for 4 days around April 1st!
Got a hotel booked (seems all the close ones booking up quickly after the concert was announced)

Friend in Japan entered the Line Lottery and won tickets for us!  Should have our names on the tickets so id checks won't be a problem.

Last time we bailed before the final encore song (Nippon Gaishi Hall Nagoya) was over because we had to catch a train back to Tokyo, this time we're staying fairly close to the concert hall so that won't be an issue!

They have always had merchandise at the four shows I've been to, even when they were just playing at a college. The selection varies, but it's always a lot for the album tours.

Keep an eye on their Twitter account before any live, they will usually confirm the start time of the merchandise, for recently live fans have been lining up about a couple of hours before the start of the sale. Generally the larger the venue, the earlier they will sell goods.

They will usually stop selling at around 30 mins or so before the doors open (so they can clear the entrance) after which they may continue selling inside or after the performance. (Budokan is usually the exception as the merchandise stands are outdoors)

On the large venues besides the merchandise stand, there is usually a booth for Heaven/Club Scandal (renewal/signup/gifts), another for CD sales.

In 2015 we went to Nagoya for the concert - the line  was very long and we were in it for over 2 hours.  That merch was outside too. 

The venue we're going to this time is smaller - the entire day will pretty much be devoted to the concert so we'll plan to show up a few hours early.  It'll be spring whereas last time it was December.

I went to the HELLO WORLD Hall Tour in 2014 - and if it is a working day, you don't have to be at the venue that early (eg the morning). Tachikawa is in greater Tokyo and we just sauntered to the merch stand, no queue no nothing. Of course this all changes if it's a weekend show! Another way to 'cheat' is buying it at the Feedback! shop in Shibuya if your itinerary includes Tokyo, as they carry the current tour merch instore. Of course, do check updates on Twitter/websites just to confirm.

Just one thing, if they release the goods at Feedback! you should go before the actual live date and not on the day, recently for Best Xmas all the merchandise were not available at Feedback! as it was all taken to the live venue instead.

This might not affect anyone here, but their promoters had ticketing issues with the Official Homepage pre-sales for the 3/3 performance in Saitama + the 4/28 performance in Osaka and accidentally awarded too many tickets. Those who did apply via that particular pre-sale only need to reapply for the new lottery.

You also need a credit card with a billing address in Japan in order to buy tickets yourself from ticketing sites, so trying to buy them yourself is definitely not an option.

I'm pretty sure shopping services like Japan Concert Tickets should be able to put your name on the ticket. Just explain the situation and ask them to confirm if they can.
