Stereopony (ステレオポニー) is a Japanese rock band that formed in Okinawa in 2007. They are signed onto Sony Music Japan's gr8! Records music label.
Before Debut
Before major debut the band was named MIXBOX, and under that name girls won grand prix at Young People Music Festival in 2007. Later they renamed to stereopony and took part in Okinawa Sound Stage '08 with song Sayonara no Kisetsu (さよならの季節) that was released as single on September 24, 2008.
Sony Debut - 1st Album
The band gained their first opportunity on the Japanese rock radio program School of Lock!. Their first single, "Hitohira no Hanabira" (ヒトヒラのハナビラ) was the 17th ending theme for the anime series BLEACH. It was released on November 5th, 2008 and ranked at #25th on the Oricon Weekly Charts. They have also performed "Namida no Mukou" (泪のムコウ), the second opening theme for the second season of the Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Their upcoming single, "I do it", is a collaboration with fellow Sony Music Japan singer YUI and was released on April 22nd, 2009.
Few months later stereopony released their debut album "Hydrangea ga Saiteiru". It debuted at #7 at Oricon Charts. After that the band started a short tour, their first - A Hydrangea Blooms. Along with tour goods there were 50 signed Score Band books in each venue for buy.
In August 2009, stereopony released new single "Smilife" which is a theme song for new Yatterman movie. Their 5th single "Tsukiakari no Michishirube" is the opening theme to Darker than BLACK season 2 and was released on 4th November 2009 and was their second single to reach the top 10 Oricon singles chart, peaking at No. 8. Stereopony's sixth single "Hanbunko" was released on September 17th 2010 and is the band's first cover; the song was originally released by Bivattchee in 2002. The 7th single, OVER DRIVE, was released on 12th May 2010 and was used for the opening theme for the Japanese drama Pro Golfer Hana.
The band's second album Over The Border was released on June 9th 2010 and reach the 12 position on Oricon chart. Their lastest single, Chiisana Mahou, was released on 8th December 2010 and was used as the first opening theme for the anime Tegami Bachi: Reverse
