I just read the news a little while ago.
Heh, I noticed there was a gap during their tour that coincided with next year's ekiden…

I'm really looking forward to it!

Wow! I was planning to see the girls in Japan this year, but if I can get tickets again, I will probably just go back to Hawaii this year and do Japan next year.

I wonder if I can get the same great room mates again? 8 )

Hopefully we can see them without having to do the running... And hopefully I will be able to go

Hi folks,

This is great news, I hope to attend with a couple of my friends. 

We met a bunch of you at the Chicago and LA shows this year and would be amazing to do it again in Hawaii.  (especially after hearing how awesome the 2014 event was)

BTW I've heard of their live in Hawaii back in 2014 and would love to go! However I'm still unsure of what the whole event is and how to get inside the meet and greet. If someone has gone before and knows the whole process on seeing them in Hawaii, please let me know!

How it worked last time is that the Ekiden tag race starts early in the morning and usually all the guests will be there to encourage the participants or participate themselves (I think monkey majik ran the ekiden too) after that its basically a free day but we stuck around close to the stage and we got to hear the bands do the sound checks and all, then after the race was over the event starts and there is a guy presenting and giving out awards for best costume runners, best times, etc. with some of the musical guests playing in between these, it was an overall very fun time and when SCANDAL took the stage it was right about sunset which made it pretty much perfect for us. 

I dont recall which day the meet & greet was but we paid and then the organizers told us a bus would pick us up and take us to a secret location (we called it secret base obviously) where there was a buffet of food and where we got to play some charade games in hawaiian with the band and there was an autographed sticker as a prize (which I won, go TEAM TIMO!) and then the translator(radio host) asked some questions to the band that they had asked us to write in a piece of paper beforehand and they responded, best question of the bunch was Eddie's which was "Any plans for a world tour?" and as you already know, that was sweet. Then the band went on to play an acoustic session for us which was crazy.

When the date comes closer im sure the organizers will start opening up the entries for the event, I'd assume its limited entries since we were pretty much full last time, I think there was 9 tables of at least 8 people each at the event, a great deal of them were japanese fans too, it was about half and half I think.

A little backstory on the Fan Meeting (meet-and-greet) event last year:

My friends and I, who are from Los Angeles, found out that the Japanese travel company H.I.S. was to offer a "SCANDAL Fan Meeting Tour" package for only those in Japan which offered airfare, hotel, and access to private events with SCANDAL. Not being okay with that, we went to our local H.I.S. offices and told them that we were interested in taking part in the event, and they e-mailed the Japan offices to let them know there was interest here.

Fast-forward a few months later, H.I.S. contacts me and lets me know that we have a shot at getting in to the event if we get at least 30 people interested. We did, and they let us join in! I had everyone tell me their e-mail addresses and then let them know how they could sign up for the event.

The schedule was this:

-5/31: Flag signing with SCANDAL
-6/1: Ekiden & Music Festival
-6/2: Fan Meeting event

About next year, we have no idea about any of the details yet and don't know if the process will be the same/similar. Everything is TBA later.

Thank you all for your help! I am anticipating the event and would love to go and experience the whole package. One more thing, do you have to run the relay if you want to join the music festival later in the evening?

No, you do not need to run. You can run if you want to, though.

1. Are you interested in going to Honolulu and seeing SCANDAL at the Ekiden + Fan Meeting?

2. If there were to be a package deal (Fan Meeting+Ekiden admission AND flight+hotel), would you be interested in it?

FYI nothing is happening right now; we're going to ask H.I.S. questions about this and want to have this info ready if they ask for it. Please answer by the end of the week!

"Official fan club"? Do you mean SCANDAL MANIA? Then no, because SM technically isn't open to those outside of Japan and this event is not affiliated with it in any way.

Also, the Fan Meeting was a completely separate event from the Ekiden. As I had mentioned before, the Fan Meeting initially wasn't open to people outside of Japan (it was only being offered as part of a vacation package deal from H.I.S., a Japanese travel company). My friends and I here in LA had to fight in order to get us international fans into it by letting H.I.S. offices here know that there were many of us interested in participating in it too, and only then did they let us join.

I was aware of most of that, just wasn't sure if the H.I.S. tour was limited to SM members.

I already booked my flight and room (nice place too), so I would rather just get the same deal we got last time and pay for the Fan meeting...

I just mentioned this earlier, but the Fan Meeting the previous time initially wasn't open to people outside of Japan (it was only being offered as part of a vacation package deal from H.I.S., a Japanese travel company). I suppose they thought opening it up to those outside of Japan was a hassle. Who knows. My friends and I here in LA had to fight in order to get us international fans into it by letting H.I.S. offices here know that there were many of us interested in participating in it too, and only then did they let us join. We also did get the same exact perks as the Japanese fans.

Right now, we technically don't know for sure if we will get the same perks (they're slightly different this time), but I think we have a good chance, and a good chance that we will get to participate. At least this time they knew from the get-go that many international fans do want to participate. I'm just waiting on official confirmation from my contact.

Just got an update from my contact!

It looks like those of us in the USA definitely will be able to join in on the Fan Meeting Tour! My contact says they're going to a meeting regarding the Fan Meeting for US fans and they should be able to give me more details about when and how to sign up.
