I wonder how recognized the band members have gotten in Japan for their fashion sense. It always seems that at least Rina and Haruna are very fashionable in their clothing. Tomomi and Mami might be as well, but they don't seem to post as much about it in their blogs.

There are always some people more bothered about fashion than others, Mami has her own very special fashion and I think Tomomi is more of a Tomboy

Oh, very true. I was just curious because most of the pics they seem to have out there for magazines and such are very fashion forward (for all of them, I believe). That's just my opinion, of course, so I was curious if my opinion were merely biased or if people in the entertainment industry felt the same way.

To me, TOMO is not a tomboy. HARU is much more so. For their casual clothing, HARU likes to wear mostly pants and guy-ish clothes (she's even said so herself) while TOMO is almost always wearing a skirt/dress and very feminine-looking clothes.

They so seem fashion-forward because, well, they are, and they make a conscious effort to be as such. They've said in the past that, besides their music, fashion is another important aspect of the band.

for those who dont know french, it says JUNYA WATANABE like boys

COMME des GARÇONS is a Japanese unisex designer clothing brand. They make all kinds of things such as jackets, dresses, skirts, shoes, etc. and have both girly style-clothing and guy-like style-clothing. Both RINA and MAMI wear clothing from this brand as well.

'like boys' is a direct translation. CDG is quite expensive even for a designer line (we have a Dover Street Market outlet in London), and the only time I bought something remotely related to it was when CDG collaborated with H&M, making their items more affordable for mere mortals like myself. CDG tends to be a little bit more avant garde, and you need to be a little brave to try some of their line.

I agree. Haruna and Mami dresses with a tomboy style than Tomomi and Rina. Though usually, Mami would settle with long skirts.
I'd like to visit CDG sometime. They opened an outlet here bout 3 years ago, not sure if it's still open. If it's not, I guess i'll have to wait for my chance when I go to Japan -.- huff huff

Haruna always looks so cool. Everytime she would dress up like this, my heart goes crazy. Hahaha

Well maybe Tomomi is not a Tomboy but I still think she is less fashion consious than Haruna or Rina.
And Haruna seems to have much more expensive taste !
But I would agree the way a group looks is important, the Beatles started a whole new fashion in the 1960's with their Beatle jackets and hair cuts.

Haha yeah I thought exactly the same. That outfit could have been used in Nanka Buttobasse PV (there were motorcycles at the beginning).

Thanks TGE for the details about "COMME des GARÇONS". I see it quite often on tv shows about Japan. And since it's written in french, I was really curious.
